project VH with VK parts

I bought a rolling shell for a $100 from here on Just commodores and was going to use it for spare parts and i wanted the V8 disk brake rear end for my VH dor when i put my V8 in my car but when my mate and i went to pick it up we found that it was to good a rolling shell to scrap so we decied to do it up as a project car

WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR

Stripped the boot and engine bay, the seats, door trims, hood lining, head lights and tail lights out of the car ready for cleaning and fixing if needed.

Carpet removed as it is stuffed, and is being replaced with new carpet. When we go to do project car we will be doing the blue bitch as well (got the carpet to replace both today for free)

Engine bay needs has had a good clean and respray and a few things fixed so that the motor can be put into to her. Power steering lines have been cut so we are runnig all new lines for that, as well as new brake lines.

Body is as straight as, A few spots need looking at where she has been bogged and not sanded right. The whole car was in primer ready for respray. Even the door sils are in primer which is a bonus as we are doing a full respray on the old girl. The had a few holes patched where they have had a screw on bonnet scoop.

We have taken the whole of the old dash out of the VH and the wiring loom out of her as well, and have strated to put the aircon and the dash and wiring loom out of the VK (note we did not chop or cut the wiring loom when we took it out of the VK) into the VH as we now put the EFI 202 out of the VK into the VH then later put we are putting something speical in. We have taken all the wiring loom and the steering column as well as crash pad and dash and strated to fit it to the VH (which we have been told by Mr VK that it will fit)

The match up for the aircon is where we are haveing a bit of trouble, but we are getting there with a few mods being needed so that it will fit. The fuse box for the VK is being used also as well as the air filter box of the VK. So we have had to welded some brakets for them to sit in the engine bay, a hole is going to be cut so that we can run the wire loom into the fuse box in the engine bay

The diff out of the VK is going to be set up for the the blue bitch with a disk brake set up as it is a Borg waner LSD, so that will be going on mine i hope haha

We painted the car in Goldrush and its a level 3 colour and its turned out all right as u can see from the pics all spray painting and work has been done by ourself's

There are a few spots on the cars paint work that we are not happy with that we are going to redo as we dont like the way they have turned out

Headlights and taillights are back in the car now, also bumpers from the VK are on the car now also.


Motor and gearbox and all the other running gear is in the car now all hooked up and ready to go, the big test will be to fire it up and see if we have done it right. The zorst and tail shaft are on as well, the brakes have been bled and are ready to go, just have to hook the starter motor up 2mmorw

The motor took 20 mins from the time we took it off the stand to the time we put the engine mount bolt in and did them up, not a bad effort if i do say so myself haha

One thing we did not think about was the fuel tank set up on the VH will not cope with the VK EFI motor so what we are going to do is put a VK or VN fuel tank in the car as they will bolt strait in so i have been told

this week sometime we are going to be putting the carpet, seats and head lining back in as well as cleaning all the windows on the car from where the ppl that owned it befor us did not tape it up right before they sprayed the primer

Also we will be looking for a front windscreen this week

Anyone who does up old commodores get 2 thumbs up from me. In my opinion, the VH look is smoother than the boxy VK (interior and exterior)especially if you get all the chrome work done!!!

Hi All sorry i have not done any updates as i have been away at the outlaws and still am away but yes she is running now and we are in the prosess of getting a 5 spd gearbox to go in the old girl and doing a few other bits to her

Well a bit more of an update we have had to put a new 5 speed gearbox in as we blew the one we had in it.

We are puting a LSD in as well and doing a few other mods to it as well when we have a chance as we a busy doing other ppls cars at the moment as we have shifted a workshop back to NSW

I can do that as i am doing a WB style sided project at the moment i strated it in the next few days. As for this project new gearbox is in Windscreen going in after ther new year new mags/tyers after the new year aswell i will post new pic's when i can
