This thread is TiTs! Got me all amped up and excited to build a 14s car for under 1grand. im looking at getting vl though as my run around is vn. And vls are even cheaper. ive got a chasi lined up for free with front end dmg and a cefiro rb20det for $800 that leaves me with $200 for a diff, steering column, mx7 gearbox, exhaustm, wheels, windscreen and suspension and brakes.... i'm fairly confident i will go over budget.

Come on down and see the idiot right here.
You aint up to Fudge all buddy
just so people realise how fast this thing actually was, with a sc14 blower runing standard pulley on a rebuilt manual buick v6 with exhtractors, cai and zorst, the best i could run was a 10.2 in full street trim. open wheel diff and alot of wheelspin but none the less. this thing is fast.
vn calais manual, from that description you would have been losing anything up to .4 in wheelspin I coudl tell you exactly what you would have made if you still have the mph for the 1/8th mile. But still For another example I made a tune for a local guy that has a VN auto with extractors the other day just before he went to the drags and he made a 10.106 and that's the best time I've heard from a conventional VN V6 on the track, not that I've seen more than half a dozen because not many are game to get on the track but still 10.106 is the best and it's the same time I've seen from a VT 5 litre clubsport
thatd be good if you could do that foamy? the mph was 69.
reaction time was 0.26
bearing in mind i was runing my overkill tune consisting of some unknown tune and 2 bar map sensor. runing pretty rich. i dont have a tune to run the blower with a 1 bar map sensor. would probably run alot better, i didnt actually get a chance to run an asby 3800 tune vs my 2 bar tune. could you help me out foamy?
Ah yeah 69 mph isn't really enough in a VN to pull much under ten. 9.9 maybeabout 125rwkw I'm guessing. I can help you out making it faster if you want, talk to me about it
Wow, been a while since Ive taken a look at this thread. Since I was last here I have tried to buy the old girl back but so far I havent succeeded. But it is still sitting around with a blown clutch so hopefully I will end up been able to buy the lil dragger back and get back to trying to get into the 8's.
I ran my vr in jan like I suggested I might and I managed to pull out some 10.15s and bring home my time bracket, against a 5 speed vn ss and all.
Very minimal mods in the vr, cat back zorst, standard manifold, cai, chipped, no bellmouth and polished and filed back 65mm throttle body. Open diff and all.
Gotta love these v6's, too bad im selling that car too. Got 2 4x4s now.
Damn this is a pretty inspiring thread haha... i want a vn now! RAWR!and the $2,500 mark is pretty doable haha. love it, hope you get it back or maby make another one haha

Very nice... How much?
quick Q mate, how did you get this thing to launch so well without getting lots of wheelspin?
Body by Holden, Soul by Brock
the Legend will live forever
VN exec T5: 15.1sec @92.2mph 1/4 mile, 9.7sec @ 74.6mph 1/8mile, 2.3sec 60ft, 0-60mph 6.827sec 22/11/07 Gtech competition
Pretty sure he ran slicks. That and on a track means unlited revs traction, either it's going to bog down, break something, or you lift the front wheels with slicks on a good track
Green foam answered that one for me haha. I was running a set of rather worn smokohama a008r semi slicks, I would also smother the tyres in vp racing track bite. (traction compound) And that was about it. With the track been a tad grippy, warm soft tyres and I suppose the car weighing about as much as feather I was able to take off on the red line.
(rip old vnStill trying to get you back)
**** yeah thats awesome bro
great times
would love to see some more pics.
is it completely stripped?
how did ya pay $500 for a manual VN? i thought only autos went around that price.
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.
Ladies and gentle men, it has been a very long time but I would like to let yous know that IM BACK! Back with the purchase of a series2 vn v6 manual which will be out to break my old vn's record of 9.05 1/8 mile, ill do a full write up of progress, no doubt titled vn v6 dragger #2 shes a wagon this time![]()
