Walesys EFI 5ltr VL wagon

hey guys just thought i'd post some pics on getting through the next stage of my project..(sorry if i have spelling mistakes im onto my 6th bundy and going strong ) pulled the 5ltr out of my vp today just need to swap front struts and k frame between vl and vp... will degrease and clean engine and box 2moerow so it dont stink my room out haha i live in my garage then will drop the 5.0 in the vl

yeh ive had 5 vl's so time to make a nice lookin one... and what better way to do a vl than to make it a v8! turbo just isnt my thing..

wow sorry i guys i was quite sloshed last nyt... any way started to clean engine and gearbox with degreaser and a scouring pad which makes the aluminium gearbox case look nice and polished, not that your gunna be able to see it anyway... just put the vp up on chasis stands to take out the front struts and v8 k frame but it looks like its gunna rain so ill see how things go tomorrow... im still stumped on how im gunna get the v8 wiring loom out in one peice though... just need to get it through the drivers side hole in the fire wall.

what better way to do a vl than to make it a v8! turbo just isnt my thing..

exactly, im in the same boat as you. turbos just dont do it for me.
this is exacatly what im wanting to do in the near future. efi 304 in a vl
going to be watching your progress in doing this so that i can get some useful tips when i do my swap, good luck with it and keep us informed

yeh well work has died down a fair bit for me so cash is a bit tight atm and there is only so much i can do without money... but im in no rush to finish it if it takes me another 6 months to get it to a rego'd state then im happy with that, even when i get the 5.0 in and running there is still lots to do like get rust cut out of front windscreen, get body kit (group a SS) closed door respray (metalic asteroid silver),new carpet(charcoal black), seats retrimmed (they are vn ss front seats, but they are in a bad way) window tint and VX GTS 19's painted black... so ill be busy for a while

not really mate have had too much time spending getting ready for going to the navy... just a few small things like new carpet and putting all the 6cyl front end in the vp to get rid of it

ok the auto elec just left after finishing off getting the wiring loom out that i started and i put the 6cyl k frame and front struts in this morning took out the v8 brake booster that i almost forgot about and got all the gas system stuff together in the boot im going to ring the wreckers tomorrow and get them to see how much they will give me for it, im thinking about $800 for the whole thing which is a whole vp exec minus v8 things like motor,g/box loom puter front struts/brakes and k frame, i could get a fair bit for the gas system by itself but i just need it gone in the next few days due to moving back in with my old man till i leave for the navy, am i asking too much or do you think that is fair?? if someone down here is interested in the gas system i will seperate it but it will need to be in the next few days and will need to be picked up by you.

ok guys good news...well for me anyway the 5ltr and gearbox is now in!!! yay, after much swearing and sweating because i had to do all this by myself on a 35 degree day! well now its in and theres still sooo much to do but ive have too much navy stuff to worry bout atm... just a little worried at the moment though because the bonnet will not sit on properly with this engine so im gunna have to put a bonnet bulge in it im more leaning towards a walky scoop because theres only a inch or so in it... after i get my navy stuff and training outta the way ill have lots of money and time to spend on it, well for a couple weeks anyway... got a few pics for yas...oh and only got 300 for the vp i was not happy!!! the gas was worth twice that on its own but the guy could tell i needed the car gone asap.

i wouldn't be too worried about the motor sitting higher. i swapped a motor in a vl today and i noticed that the motor in it sits higher than the top of the guards..
that pic looks worse cos of the angle you took it on.

yeh it wasnt a straight shot but when i put the bonnet on top there is a fair gap before it will close
