Well tonight I bought my first project car. Its a LJ Tori and im the third owner. Still has all the original dealer stickers and books. At the moment it is orange but will end up being probably a red, green, or white. The 186 im guessing has virtually no compression as I can turn the belts just by hand using the fan. The body is a 4 door has a little bit of rust in the guards and some in the doors but it will all be fixed properly. The interior is perfect and originalish. The best thing is all the start parts I got with the car which are a XU1 Triple 175 CD-2 Stromburg setup on the original XU1 manifold. An aussie 4 speed out of an XU1, and a lsd out of the xu1 . Question im wondering is any suggestions on engines I want to use the triple carbs so im guessing probably a red 202 and il put a yella terra head and cam in it. But if a black 202 with a holley 350 or webber what be more powerful and chew less juice well how could I complain. Will get pics up very soon. I paid $600 all up for it. I know its a Commi forum but a Holdens a Holden
Cheers

Got some pics on the camera phone sorry for the quality. im starting to think a nice red and black similar to an XU1. basically a 4 door XU1 replica but I aint gonna go put XU1 decals on it as its only a tori 6 also I think il go with a red 202 anyone got any good ones ere lol pre pollution. Chuck a cam in it, yella terra head and the triple stromburgs thorugh a m21 and she should go alright. Cheers
Cheers
well its either gonna be lime green or red? cmon people give us some suggestions
Cheers
nice...change of plan its gonna be white now with just some blacked out bits and some 15" low profiles.
Cheers
the panda colour scheeme looks great white with black sills and over the guards and round the back panel.just put my LJ in the shed started the project too fully stripped just doing the welding now worst part is the sills total replacement needed just waiting for them to be rolled up now $25 each.
heres a before pick of my torana and a pic of my diff ready to go in and one of my mates lj
theyre getting rare now. i looked on ebay at how much XU1 parts are getting and for $600 I couldnt pass the offer down. Im more thinking just white with a blacked out grill no black on the sills or anything. The rust in mine is in the A piller on on the drivers side and I have to replace the drivers side guard which is still got all the lead filling so I dont know how im gonna go about replacing them but I will see i guess. The sills in mine have a very slight amount of rust in them but nothing a welder cant fix and some bog. and the floor has a very minimal amount of rust so Il use an epoxy type of material and some rust proofer/sound deadner all over the floor and underside of the car. Just need to get my finances sorted first but I cant wait to get a start on it.
Cheers
melt the lead out and find all the spot welds that hold the guard on drill them out then weld back through the holes with a mig welder to put it back on .Ive got the welder and know how to weld so I just need some time should be finished in six months putting rb30 and five speed in mine though .if it fits round the steering
nice work mate,Yes they are getting more expensive these days,Me and my father have just finished building his 2 door,There is a small pic of it in the latest queensland street car magazine,it is hothouse green with a come racing 355,Very silly machine, absolutely awsome.
Your 202 idea is good and probably the cheapest way, just throw in a 40/80 cam and with the yella terra heads and triple carbs it will move very quickly,i personally would put in a ecotec V6,power to weight would be excellent and the conversion wouldnt cost much more then a rebuilt 202.good luck with it.
we spent two years creating our little 308 LJ "Torrie''.
We love it, painted Devil Yellow, BnM Quickshift, original inside and out but with XU-2 Specs.
But the car hammers, we struggled to get ours engineered as the new laws for power to weight ratio's were coming in. heres a pic. i can send more if u want.

i look forward to seing how your project goes
Kevhaze, thats one hot LX you have there. And the fact it's a coupe makes it that much more sexier.I love that colour on Torana's. I've only seen it in the flesh on one other torana, and that was an SLR/5000.
What motor you running in that? 308?
