Default VG Valiant Pillarless Coupe Hardtop Project

Well before the Charger was around this was the two door version of the Valiants. Bought this baby for 1000$ few months ago been meaning to put it up here but havent had the time. It is a 1969 VF Hardtop converted to a VG. In reasonable condition. Lots of rust in the rear quaters no suprise there for anyone who knows these cars. Still has the sloper 6 in it but thats gonna be replaced by a 265 in due time. Figured id buy it seems the price of muscle cars these days. Unregistered and will need to go over the pits but ey ive got all the patch panels sitting in my room waiting to be welded on and filled. So it will be probably the most rust free Valiant once its finished . Gonna respray it white and get ahold of the Pacer decals from my supplier and get a 265 with a Holley on it soon enough. But yeh what you people think?

Well after full stripping the interior and glass ive discovered yet again more rust. On the floor on the passenger foot well and some on the passenger firewall. The previous owner was a bit of an idiot really and put house underlay in for the car everywhere including all the boot and all the sides. Im still finding it but anyway that stuff held moisture and seems that the car was outside for about a year before I got it its lead to some more rust. but anyway sheet metals cheap and I know how to do all the repairs myself just wondering when Im gonna see no more farking rust. Cheers

hey mate good to hear some more about the project have you got any recent pics? would love to see some dont know if it helps but for internal panels and hard to reach places i use fisholine, i dont recomend to use the spray can stuff unless its a good brand like wattyl just my opinion, but what i do, is get the deoderised fish oil in the can and pour it into a spray bottle (cost like $2 from bunnings) and spray all you internal panels with it! works a treat! any way good luck with the project keep us updated
