we have decided to rego the VH for 12 months while we finish our FB project and then do a complete revamp on it. We would really like the input from you guys that have done this already with any suggestions you may have bearing in mind that whatever we do, it will be a gas only car as we are putting gas on it early 2008. What we need is your suggestions for the easiest engine and gearbox swap using a more powerful motor than the present 3.3. Also need to know the extra things required such as brake upgrades and all the little things that only those that have done it will be aware of. Any help, assistance, (volounteers lol) etc will be greatly appreciated.
try rb 30
i have helped finish a swap into a friends vk
engine was already in when i came over but i
swaped dash, two problems, window rubber is different
and you need the metal braket around the cluster
had to move radiator brackets
removed cat so exhurst would fit(will fix better later)
tuned it and loved the improvement
going to start mine now my old vh 3.3 into rb30
will figure out any problems from the start
i vote for a vn 5litre backed by a 5spd. Apparently not too hard a job to change to either.
RB30 with turbo is my number one choice and what I would/will do to mine one day. VN 5 litre would be the easier swap though and get's my vote for second choice
rb30 would be a good choice with the five speed manual just register and go, if you go the v8 you are changing configuration and will need a compliance check by your local authority.
Nobody wants to play with me
Neither engine needs a engineers report into a VH
i have done two rb conversions into vks now and they are quite simple car im selling now that will be in power cruise has a rb20det in it.It is a old school engine but can buy complete really cheaply and when backed up by a decent computer and turbo really get cracking despite what others say
rb26vk i posted this q yesterday
does the rb30turbo have the same problems
as the rb30n/a ie gearbox mount (manual)and radiator
if so how did you fit it?
