Default VR to VS BCM Upgrade

Well, im just gonna start this project thread so anyone interested can keep track of my progress, and findings, but at the end of it all ill summarise it all into a HOWTO if anyone might be interested in it, but ill oulay the basic plan of this headache lol.

To have full VS electrics in my VR Ute, i dont plan on doing a complete loom upgrade to do this, also, im going to keep the VR ECU, and Memcal unmodified as well, and at the end of the day, if i ever want or need to, to be able to revert to the VR BCM.
The method i have chosen for this is to Patch the New HI BCM in conjuction with the LO BCM so in basic, the LOW BCM will controll pretty much Just the ECU Immobiliser, i have worked out a way of doing this too, and i will be using the VS Key head on my Key, and the HI BCM will link my old Key Head to The Low BCM Via a Relay, this should work, and hasnt been tested yet, but i will keep everyone updated, so here starts the headaches, and nightmares

First step, was a trip to the wreckers for a BCM, some wiring plugs, a key head, they are the basics of my start, and just to give me something to do, and a start to it all, i picked up a wiper stalk with dwell, and a headlight switch, total cost so far $20

I have managed to figure out the wire colors, and pins of a lot of the Hi wires with a diagram, but alas my diagram doesnt give pin numbers, so im having to work them out by wire colors, and the problem there is that there are some double ups, and none of the corespond with the LOW BCM, so cant just find them that way either, but i did find the power and earth wires, so i powered it up, press key buttons, yep, can hear realys, found indicator flash wires, so i noted them, that elimiated a couple of other wires as well, then i worked out the wires needed for the wiper stalk swap, and plugged them into the car, put the wiper stallk in, and at first, with no bcm plugged in, wipers will work on low, and high, but wont self park, washers work, but wont trigger wipers, so i have now found the other wires i needed, and now have the wipers parking, working on low and high, and the washers are triggering the wipers as well, only thing left now is one more wire to the dwell controll, and the int will work as well, so i have this bit figured, a few more pin outs of the high bcm, and low bcm, and a couple of blown fuses (i should have got some of them from work too ) Now im just going to redo my notes, solder a few more wires to the patch loom, and then ill eliminate a few more pins, write them down, and then ill go test, if thats working, then ill work on the headlight switch with auto lights function, and cool multi step dash dimming, ill keep y'all paosted on progress

Update, i think i did have the wipers working correctly, i turn to int, they start working, bout 4 secs between each sweep, then adjust the knob, 12 secs between sweeps, only prob was that if i would it back to quick, it didnt get quicker, only slower, i would have to turn it off, then back on the get it to go back to quick, but i cant test this anymore now, as i now have a blown VS BCM I blew a few fuses, blew the security LED flasher so now i gotta find my spare if i can, or just wait till next wreckers trip, but i at least know now NOT to connect BCM pin C2 to earth lol, well, now i just wait till my Ebay BCM arives, then more tinkering, i might have to go see if holden will let me photocopy some pages outta a VS wiring diagram, so i can get all the correct pinouts of the BCM, that would make it a lot easier and safer lol

yeah, does seem that way at the moment, but i figure that if i can get a hold of a VS Factory Manual, i think book 5 of the series is wiring and electriacal, it labels which pin no of the bcm that things go to, so instead of me knowing that the wiper dwell switch goes to a blue wire, i would know that it goes to a blue wire in plug C3, otherwise, i have about 5 blue wire to choose from, and thats when you have to guess, and stuff a perfectly good bcm lol, but once i know it all, should be pretty simple, just a case of running the wires to where they need to go, and then patching them into the New BCM

Yup, car will still be hooked up to UTE loom (even more povo that the exec one lol) and then all to ohh's and ahh's of the st8o will be hooked up to the High BCM, with the UTE BCM still controlling the immobiliser in the Memcal, But, i will have the St8o key head on my key, when the key is put in the ignition, the BCM drops the wire to the start relay to earth, allowing you to crank the engine, instead, this wire will run from the High BCM, to a NEW relay, that when closed, will have a wire that connects to the contact of my old heay head, and then to the low BCM, so that is sees that the key is in the ignition, thus, allowing me to use the cental locking off the High BCM without having 2 keyheads hanging off my keyring lol, prolly sounds a lot more complicated than it is, well, its all good in theory i guess, now i just need a holded wiring book to finish working out my pinouts of the BCM's, so i can start patching it all together

Thanks mate, will do, i think most of the time and effort will be the design process, which im pretty much over, then the research process, which im in the middle of, then the wiring isnt too bad if you have all the tools, and then there is the time to fit components like powersteering pump, lines, lock actuators, window regs, all that kind of stuff, other than that, i still consider it to be easier than a complete loom change lol

if anyone reading this has a VS wiring diagram for a high BCM that has the lug pin numbers with the diagram instead of just the wire color, it would be greatly appreciated
