there needs to be a service by gmh to confiscate cars from negligent owners. all they need is a video of some dude driving his vq statesman through a foot of water and then trying to dry his air filter with the heat of an oil less engine. bogging over masking paper will just be icing on the cake. sounds like passages from a novel called memoirs of a bush mechanic...

yea theres this 1970 ford escort gt that we just finished painting at work, anyway it came to us with this shit 2 pak paint job with notes written all over it in white pen where to fix stuff. where the guard meets the windscreen pillar was circled where the paint was bubbling up. there was so much bog (2 inches deep) we just lit up the oxy and burned it off. there was a 2x4 inch rust out where they stuffed in news paper and bogged it over. it was the same all over the car. thats why when i buy a project car i like original paint surface rust included, cause then i know what im getting.

got the vp quarter windows today. pick-yer-ass in cambelfield half price glass this week so they worked out to $7 each. fitted them up, had to shave off the vn tabs and drill 2 holes at the bottom. squirted some etch primer over the bare metal. barsare dry rubbed with 320. theres about 20-30 mins of wet rubbing left on the body. i started it with 800 and quickly found it to be too time consuming. i 180 dry blocked my repairs, 320 orbital sanded the whole car, then finished with 600 wet on the foam block. i reprimed a bunch of spots that i wasnt happy with last week so now the car has a really nice ripple free reflection. if it was going to be painted with a metallic base id finish with 800 wet, but its a solid base so no need to go that smooth. quarter windows, belt molds, and drip rails are going satin black. heres some more pics and some of the respray i did from saturday.

had an epiphany after watching that homoerotic movie bruno. why not velcro my headliner trim. so i bought some velcro off ebay for 30 bucks, 2 inch wide x 25 meters long so theres 10 years of velcro left. but unlike bruno i have some loop to go with my hook. some sizzlers, sikaflex urethane, and roll of masking tape and away we go. hook on the roof and loop on the trim and 12 hours of cure time before i marry the 2. i did my daily driver and the cali style calais. took some happy snaps, enjoy... think i might start a velcro thread...
