Default new daily driver project vp calais

finally the telstar has come to an end. lady in front of me jammed on the brakes through a green light at the intersection near my house. someone cut her off turning right on red and left me paying a 1000 dollar excess. oh well **** happens. cars gone to pickles auctions. looks im a first place shoe in for the good timing awards though because my boss is brought his vp calais to work to sell and now i gots the spinach. its getting a change over steering rack right now but i should have it monday or tuesday. cars been sitting for about year and a half so ill give it a full service and i change the driver mirror and taillight. picked it up for 1800 bucks, will post pics asap..... its cardinal red over solar silver and a 3.8 litre...

Looks like you almost got her stopped - bad luck a.

On the good side VP Calais is a nice mode or transport. There's an up side to everything.

Beautiful car, and a beautiful colour Take care of that, it's in great condition!

Just please, don't put VY sigs on it It's a great looking car as it is, the last thing it needs are big, ugly, heavy mags slowing it down

Also, respray standard colour? I hope so

im going with standard colour but i going to do a house of kolor red ice pearl overlay. you'll only be able to see the diffrence in person not really in photos. just gives it a little something different. theres a couple of these getting around my area same colour.

yea the outter skirt was pushed in maybe half inch but it its cosmetic really so i didnt bother messing around with it as it dosent get seen. we tried all the panels on and everything lined up good after we pulled the hinges. its kinda like my first car, didnt have the heart to part it out, and for 200 bucks buy back its sill not to put it back on the road. got aq soft spot for the calais...

got he car in primer today. used the ppg d8046 and put 5% DG red oxide tinter in it just for a pinkish base color for the cardinal red base thats going over it. paint stripped the boot lid too, put a coat of etch primer in a can over it for adhesion. had some rust spots around the boot seal so i ground those clean and sprayed some rust buster on them wiped clean, then etch primer. gonna let it sit for a bit to let the primer suck in and cure up before i rub it. i blacked out the scuttle panel section as awell so i can pop rivet the vin plate back on.

its one of my favourite calais's and i dont even know why, theres just something about... kinda shits me that every one that i see on the road is a friggin wreck. at least now theyle be a clean one getting around my area. i saw one a couple months ago towing a trailer. it had diffrent color panels on the front damage all over, looked like a mad max version... i cringed

ill make sure i take plenty.

skipped working on it this weekend to do some more road worthy work to the vp berlina. havent had a car from when the the calais got hit.

got all the paint sorted too. ill take some pics of that on wednesday. i got some ppg priced out, 3 litres of red 1.5 of the bottom color and some premium clear. it was like $1100 YIKES (without reducer)! i ended up going with mipa paint. ive used it before, should look pretty good. same amount of paint with a 5 litre tin of thinner for like $650 all up...
