Polariser - bring it back

I thinks its 21 years since the polariser made its contribution to Australian Muscle Car History.

I thinks its about time they release a 'tribute' to this bit of aussie engineering by introducing a VE version of a group 3....complete a relica of the device and the sticker on the back window to attract the 'negative molecules' or whatever it was supposed to do.

That will never happen. It would be extremely hypocritical of Holden too do so as Holden never endorsed the original vehicle in the first place. If Holden did do it, the public would see Holden as nothing more than a greedy company willing to cash in on the great name of a dead man.

think of the relevance of what the polariser meant at the time. HDT was king of the hill back then. no one could touch em on the road unless you had a Porshe etc. the best ford had in australia was a 6 cyl XF falcon which was good for taking gramps to lawn bowls. Godzilla (R32) was 2 years away. Here is the car company which could put no foot wrong at the time, driven literally by the greatest bathurst Hero in history....how dare anyone question it?

i put the polarisar with the shaker as 2 of the most distinguished items in aussie muscle car history. problem was, only one of them worked....i recon a genuine polariser HDT car with the device and more importantly, the sticker on the back window to act as the antenna for 'negative vibes' will be worth $$$$$ in the future.

if you ever read deap into what happen to brocky in the few years before he introduced the polariser, he went to LE MANS in 84, and he was suppoesed to have had a nervous breakdown. thats when he got hooked up with some witchcraft voodoo freak called ERIC DOWKER. this is the guy that influenced brock to produce the polariser.

you gotta rememeber that brock reputation was untouched and unquestioned up to then,and anything he said was the last word. so if brock said he was abducted by aliens then at THAT TIME no one would question him...he said that the polariser was to make cars go faster and smoother with no air pressure....then who are we mortals to question peter BROCK....the king of the mountain.

yeah i read up heaps on the whole background to the thing. as far as i'm concerned he was a great driver who just went a bit off the plot briefly. doesn't mean the whole thing can't have the piss taken out of it a little

your absolutely right. his credibility went out the window when he tried to convince everyone that the polariser really worked. it really was a con and no one should be able to try to con people and get away with it. the equivalent thing today would be if when tander won the championship a few years ago, and to commemorate it, holden brought out a HSV special edition with door handles made out of 'tusks to improve fuel economy....and to remove evil spirits'. Brock really was ill at the time, and this was a clear sign. yes he was mortal, yes we all make mistakes, and his legend will never die regardless.

Foamy, there is nothing mystic about being ****ed in the head and truly believing something like the polariser and flat tyres will make you faster and save fuel. The guy had mental issues, there is nothing even remotely intriguing about that.
