For those that are over 30 years old, well before XBox, PS2, WII..etc, the main form of indoor entertainment for me and most of my friends back then was a slot car set. if you were not so rich, you had a 'no name' brand that you could get from most Toy stores etc, and took 4 D cell batteries. If your parents had a bit more cash, you got AFX or scalextric with a transformer (never ending power!). i only gave mine away a few years ago to a neighbor, and i bitterly regret that now. i may ask for it back...
Own up all you X generationers...

I still have about 30 metres of scalextric in the cupboard. Been offered thousands for it. I plan on making a major train/slot car setup using paper mache once the new house is built.

got a few meters upstairs to.. afx and scaleletrix... with the afx if you get some tweasers you can unwind the motor, then turn on 3 or so turns of heavy gauge wire,, for insane speed, they dont last long though, usually end in a cloud of smoke after 20 or 30 minutes, but they are eay enuff to built,,, and the hot wheels speed radar gun thing is great to mesure there speed,,, fastest so far is 1160 scale kms an hour.... oh im 34 by the way, just havent grown up

When we were kids we used to all get together, combine sets and make massive tournaments.
