ok well i have a huge love for the VL commodore, so much so that in the 6 years ive had my licence ive owned 6 of them... not all of them were kept for long and drivin all the time only 3 were...
but now comes the time where i want to get another one to use as a daily, ive owned 2 wagons one of which i done a efi 5ltr conversion onbut unfortunately due to moving alot for work reasons i ended up selling it before it was on the road,
ive always wanted to have a clean wagon but i also wanted to find a beige SL sedan to clean up as sort of a tribute to my 1st VL that i had on my L's and P's... man i miss that car,
as its a daily i wouldnt get a v8 or turbo model and ive had a calais before so i would be happy with an SL or executive im not fussed... so guys what you think i should do? and if your in perth and have a VL i have a VB SL/E that i would swap with some cash your way aswell, depending on condition...
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
lol yeah im with the times but the love of a certain model sometimes just sticks lol, plus if i get a vl i can pull the caprice apart for some internal work ;-)

Mate if you wan,t it get it, it sounds like you have made your decision. I would love to have the time and space to get a car to do up.
If you love the VL, go for it! Buy the car you want, don't let anyone try and talk you out of it.

Normally, I would say no, but after owning six of them already, you are obviously chronically ill and suffering from withdrawal syptoms.
The only obvious cure is to get number seven.
Are there really any decent stock VL's left out there?
You can still get a good stock FJ if you look hard enougha VL is no problem
lol yeah the withdrawrals are pretty bad haha and yeah there are some pretty clean stock ones left, even if they are a bit rough it doesnt take much to get them looking good again...
my wagon went from this shabby lookin wagon to the neater example here with pretty basic stuff... new suspension, took the stripes off the side just below the windows, new tyres and stckie rims, and a cut and polish... thats when i decided to put the efi 5ltr in![]()

Not if you turboerise a NA SL to 280 rwkw (at 1300kgs) VN Luke (MK 1) style, then you can drive your WH to appeciate your daily. I'm all for the 5 litre and it does feel like I'm on the grid at the Daytona 500 everytime I start it ready to go and get some bread from the shop but the RB30 goes faster easier![]()
What happened to the first 6?

#1. well... the first one was a mild worked na 6 with a minispool and done nothin but get me (a fresh 17yr old p plater) into trouble, so i sold it to a local bloke who had a vl because he wanted the engine and diff...
#2. the second one was a stock wagon that i only had for about a month which i tidied up a bit and sold for a profit...
#3. 3rd was a maroon sedan same deal as the wagon the paint was a bit rough but id never seen such an immacualte interior, plus it was manual with tint and central locking... i ended up swapping that for...
#4. my ice blue calais... it had a genuine 93,000kms on the clock with service records, bought it off an old bloke who owned it since new, but never drove it because his wife alwayd drove their other car or some crap... i ended up lowering it converting it to manual chucking a set of 19's and a stereo in it, i had it for bout a yr then sold it...
#5. was a white berlina i bought it just to re-sell as i could get it cheaper than it was worth
#6. my favorite... was my asteroid silver wagon with a sun roof... i scored it for $500 and the rust had been cut out already... it was an auto 6 but the engine was almost dead and my vp 5ltr was about to run out of rego so i thought... stuff it, so i pulled the baby cammed 5ltr and shift kitted and stallied auto out of the vp and put it in the wagon... i stripped the vl of any spare weight as much as morton has with his VQ stato got it wired up but i never got it regod or finished coz i ran out of time before i joined the navy so it sat at home for a few months before i ended up selling it...
