    Default Sightseeing In Melbourne

After some help as to what to see whilst in Melbourne next week.
My wife has never been , and last time I was there was for the Grand Prix in about '01.
Will be there for about 8 days and staying in St Kilda.
Going to try and do the following, but dependent on weather.

    Great Ocean Road
    Puffing Billy and the ranges
    Penguins at Phillip Island
    Sovereign Hill
    Werribee Zoo
And just a general look around town

Just after some other ideas that you would recommend.
    Thanks in advance.

You've pretty much got the right idea there mate, some other places of interest could also include:

    Crown Casino
    Southbank
    Rialto Observation Deck
    etc.

Theres alot to do here, im sure you'll find something to do everyday.
    Enjoy your stay.

    Cheers guys,
Most of that stuff was also on the list.
As for Echuca, a bit too far out of town.

    Thanks for the info.

Is that as bad as living between Bankstown, Cabramatta and Auburn?

Whats the difference between the two observation decks?

Just looked at the weather for next week and looks like I could be in for some rain. So any more ideas for inside?

Was thinking of the sports museum and MCG tour? Worth it?

    Keep the ideas coming.

    Cool, thanks for that.
Have seen both of the websites and wasn't sure of the differences.
As long as the weather holds out for a day, might try and do the MCG tour.

    I'd suggest the following:

It's winter, so the weather is going to be sodding awful. Make sure you organise the Great Ocean Road drive for the sunniest day of the lot. It gets windy out there, and will make a cold rainy day just unbearable.

The dandy ranges on the other hand, are beautiful when it's misty or raining lightly. You really don't need a nice day to appreciate them. Just try and find a bit that's still green

You all forgot the Botanic gardens which are one of the best in the World, not as good as Sydneys but still very good. Also get some food at the Veggie bar 380 Brunswick St Fitzroy VIC worth it for the high class waitresses if not the food

There could be a gallery of the rarest and most beautiful plants in the world for all I care. Still full of children and mothers

To me, the whole idea of spending time around nature, is to spend time NOT around people
