yeah your stupid to do it in an auto but for a manual its ok, just dont go crazy :L.
my mate did this in my old car, it tore the cv joint off the wheel, cost 400 to fix

No mate, it stupid to do it in any car. Manual or Auto it isn't just the gearbox that can get damaged. Diff, CV shafts, tailshaft, engine, they all cop abuse too. Not to mention the obvious danger to others.
Seriously can't wait to see how long your first car lasts.
I'm not having a go at anyone whos done it, just saying it doesn't matter what sort of gearbox you have.

id did this in my WB statesman back in the day as it wouldnt do a burnout for the boys (young and stupid). With the car being so heavy i chewed the teeth on the diff gears and it was a very noisy drive home and new diff weekend.
Lesson learnt if you dont have the power to spin the tyres dont try.
i did it to my car when i first got it and was an idiot,
funnily enough, i am now on my second engine/gearbox
makes the tyres chirp, and its reccomended for if you want to **** your transmission up,
nearly as effective as mistaking the transmission dipstick for the engine one
facing the motor from the front it is far left and its a red bit of plastic
I was stupid once to try it on my SS.
but on my defence I was already moving, so it was easier on the box.
a small wheel spin and traction came on.
was under wrrenty though![]()
Really really ... Fighting Temptations
i wonder if anybody has ever been cruising down the road and slapped the auto into "P" for passing![]()

hahaha ive never done a neutral dump and never will but about a year ago i was manually shifting an auto (going from 1 to 2 then 3) and i accidently clicked in the button and shifted it into reverse doing about 60km....
the car just shut off and i thought i ****ed something up bad lol but then found out the computer turns the car off if its put into a position like that.
sweet ive always been dreadin the day i do this missed 3rd into R, lucky its got a shut down then.
Mite do try it this week end in the vpadock basher
When my gearbox died and i only had 1st and 2nd i just to do redline bangers in my stato. Max rpm in 2nd almost straight away. I used up many many tires in that week. It was good to start a rolling burnout at 40kph. Mind you i only had 225 stockies on at the time. so no real traction there.
I have since got a new Gbox fully worked, Tailshaft and diff.
If we are desperate to do a burnout in the fairmont and it wont light up the 245's we will do a low rpm dump just to get them initially spinning.
ps. the fairmont is just a beat up heap with a pod. ahahahha
If I remember correctly one of the torture tests for the transmission is to take the car to a gravel pit out at Lang Lang, plant the boot and swap between R and D.
ha i get better burnouts with just my foot on the brake.
I own an Commodore, therefore, I own the road
Oh how i love rear wheel drive
Haha I have done a lot of stupid shit,
car load of mates saturday night main road, neutral to drive at 4,000rpm prob spun for 10 meters on 18s was fun while it lasted, next to a falcon of all things showing of
Had trans serviced and shift kit put in, and ended up needing a rebuild by the time i got it back cause all the trans was burnt out from doing burnouts and shit like that, learn t me lesson well and truely lol
Now my cars on gas you need to revv it till like 3,000 when as u flick it over to gas or to petrol either way so it can use that last bit of fuel left in the motor or something like that the gas bloke told me, was cruising along wanted to put it on petrol, at 60 shifter was sticky pushed it past neutral into reverse and stalled it coming towards a roundabout shit myself
Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you...
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
I think some people don't realise also that if you hold your foot on the brake while neutral dropping u can do proper burnouts. Not that i do. If the commy doesnt feel like spinning i use some water. But it always and i mean always spins because i only ever do that stuff with my stockies that have completely bald tires, i call them my v8 supercar tires lol.

haha did this in my vs to my old box minutes before fitting new box haha kicked ls on a singo diff and left bout 50 mtr skid and twisted one of my axels haha lucky i also had a spare axel hah
hahahah yeah, wen i started my new job i was talking with a guy about his 5 speed VL (at te time i had a Stage 2 cammed and kitted Auto VL.
he was saying that i'd "probably" beat him off the mark cause i could "Slingshot" it. (neutral Dumpy). i just laughed inside and have never taked to the bloke since.
Note: he didnt really take notice of the fact my VL was kitted and cammed, he still thught he'd have a chance in his stock-as-a-rock 5 speed...pfft no chance......
but a auto vl.. i mean
whats more to say auto plus rb30e:P
cam or no cam baha
mate had an 82 mitsubishi colt, used to do this every saturday night out with the boys. poor thing lasted a year before it stopped engaging reverse. it was towed away on a truck to pick a part.
