Looks like I finally have a good excuse to give up water for good!
Apparently someone did a study and found that beer will rehydrate you better than water after exercise.

... After exercise.
But did you know the main cause of a hangover is dehydration?
like I ever needed any more excuses to drink beer! I'll tell my girl I need it for the gym!
i couldnt think of anything worse, exercise.
Exercise is walking to and from the fridge, and lifting your beer to your mouth repetitively. I'm pretty sure that counts

This is only taking hydration levels into account. Gaurantee you the acetadehyde poisining will do far more damage to an already fatigued immune system then water will help...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't beer have bugger-all (as good as none) acetaldehyde in it? That would only be a problem in badly made homebrew....speaking of which, I think I need one![]()

lol nevermind the fact that you will need to keep exercising constantly to burn off the extra kilojoules from drinking the 'hydrating' beer I think I'll stick with water![]()
I can solve that as well: Jokes, Humor, Comedy, Food Funny
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for people who take this all seriously and start replacing meals with beer - you might get drunk and hurt yourselves

It isn't really anything worth worrying about.
In the conversion to ethanol, acetaldehyde is an intermediate, basically meaning that the sugars are converted to acetaldehyde, then the acetaldehyde is converted to alcohol.
At least thats the way I understand it, but it's been a while since I studied fermentation

Acetadehyde is what the body converts the Ethanol in alcohol into, through alcohol dehydrogenase before then converting it into acetic acid though another enzyme called acetaldehyde dehydrogenase.
As we all know Ethanol is a fairly toxic chemical... Well Acetadehyde itself is 21 times more toxic and binds to proteins causing damage to muscles. Then it also damages DNA...
Rant over but in short never drink alcohol after a work out.
Edit: Sorry been a while since Chemistry in grade 12 lol. But here's some information for you Here It's actually 30 times more potent then Ethanol.
