On the cheap the old SE Cybershot K800i is fantastic. 3.2 MP, Xenon flash and still poops opn many camera phones today. If you are set on 5 MP then the SE C902 is good also but has LED flash over xenon and is considerably slower.
I just bought the LG Renoir which has an 8 MP camera which is fairly decent. I can upload some sample if you want. The photo of my car in my pictures was taken with it but since it was overcast and the sun was setting it's not the best representation (also photoshop)
Remeber sensor size isn't always what to go for. A good 3 MP will take better photos than a bad 5 MP. Only difference is the 5 MP will give you a bigger, lower quality image. K800i is highly recommended from me
Cnet dot com have sample images, just google best camera phone and have a looksky.
I have an N82 with 5mp camera plus xenon flash. Fantastic shots night and day. Its similar to an N95/N96. Nokia's are decent phones, but maybe think about just buying a cheap digital camera. They are small and easy to carry in a pocket these days. You can get 8mp cameras for around the $100-$150 mark these days and they will take better photos than 99% of camera phones plus they are alot cheaper even if you are buying a second hand phone. I just purchased a 2nd hand N95 phone for my parents for $250 and thats not a bad price but still more than a higher resolution digital camera.
Hope that helps![]()
best phone out there IMO that offers pretty much everything is the Nokia N95 (or newer N96). decent camera, large screen, decent browser, GPS etc etc.
I've got the Sony C905, and as much as i love it, it's a delicate phone. compared to some other top end phones, mine needs to be handled with more care. but again, awesome camera, alright screen, etc.
your best bet would be to sit down, work out exactly what you want in your phone, what your budget is and go somewhere like Allphones, who sell on behalf of all network carriers, and see what phone is best suited to you.

Really? I've had 3 Cybershots (K750i, K800i and C902). The k705i is the only one to break (I was on a playground and all 75kg (now 60kg so I go faster) of me landed on the phone which was on a metal bar. Phone was still good though.
The K800i had many a drop and is still going strong and the C902 spent a couple of hours in 3cm of tea in a mug, still going
Will have those pictures soon, just hunting down USB cables.

why at least 5mp? You do know megapixels has nothing to do with quality right? That said, your not going to get any phone that is capable of a half decent image, the only thing they are good for is myspace whores with stupid cheesy posesJust buy a half decent point and shoot.

Lol, my thoughts exactly ^^^ I bought a cheap basic $50 Nokia from Safeway that makes calls and sends sms, and i bought a half decent camera.
When i bought the phone the lady asked what functions i wanted it to have, i said "I want it to make calls and send sms's" and she looked stunned that someone my age wanted a phone FOR IT'S ACTUAL INTENDED PURPOSE.
To the OP, it would work out cheaper to buy a half decent digital camera for a few hundred to take photos of your car rather than buy a phone with a shitty camera (let's face it, most of them are) or get locked into a contract paying for a phone.

I'm the type of prat who goes out and gets the best possible phone within the plan I am on. My current one is an N95i and basiclly all I do with it is make calls and send messages.
Minux is right, buy a digital camera for less and get better pictures instead of getting a phone![]()
I was exactly the same ^^^ I had an N95 and then an Iphone. Now i own a very very very basic Nokia that looks like a 3310, which is a new model, but made for people who want a basic phone. Cost me $50 brand new from Safeway, has a flashlight on it instead of a camera, no internet no fancy stuff.
Best phone i have ever owned. I use more on it than i did the stupid Iphone. And if i drop it and it breaks, i don't care, i'll just go buy another one for $50. Better than dropping and breaking a $1200 Iphone i guess.
I can see the attraction with getting new phones. Then one day i just got over it. But boy did i love my new fangle dangle phones when i got them haha.

I'd try and steer away from a flip phone, I've had a few over the years and most of them started going more floppy than flippy lol
i don't think most people know this. i once had a really good sony camera that i paid about $400 for 6 years ago. it was only 3.2mp though. it got stolen, claimed it on insurance, and they offered me the absolute cheapest sony camera that you could buy. it was worth like $100. i told them that their offer was ridiculous, and they said "yeah but it is better it is 7.2mp and your one was only 3.2mp". i tried to explain that megapixels is not a measure of quality, they didn't really budge though. their policy states they will replace your item with someone that at least matches the specifications of the old item... so i actually pinged them by saying that my camera took video at 30fps 640x480 where the new shitty camera only took video at 15fps 320x240. shouldn't have had to do that though
.
like cobez said, $50 phone does the trick, then grab a $150-$200 camera. it'll take nice enough photos and with a bit of photoshop editing to brighten up the colours/sharpness they'll turn out fantastic. multifunction devices are never good, you can't make a device that is perfect at doing everything.
The Sony Ericsson C905 (with 8.1MP) phone is probably the best one. Out of all the mobiles i've tried and sold Sony Ericsson seem to have the best quality. Probably due to the Sony imaging experience that is put in them.
Phones arnt designed to take good photos, if you want to be able to edit them in photoshop or other programs of the like, buy a phone to make phone calls and send messages, and buy a point and shoot to take photos, the p&s will take better photos than a phone ever will because its designed to take photos, not make phone calls....
ive got an LG Renoir, take good photos if there is good light, here 2 happy snaps from it, at a reduced size,
the pic with my car is when canberra had the big dust storm for a day couple months back

the pictures taken above were taken off that model phone, another to add with it is, the divX works great on it, the videos ive got of swift and shift couriers, south park etc, look like almost like dvd quality, the Dolby mobile works ok, but can seem a bit dull or too much tone via the supplied earphones < huge bass at that too, the phone speaker is ok, could be a lil louder though, thats my only gripe, has frozen one or twice from me being quick and confusing it, but dosnt freeze or flip out as much as my k800i did on occassions
oh they also come in a really smick packaging box too haha

if you turn it to its side, its changes to a qwerty keyboard, using the supplied stylus make life alot easier for that though,
