I got the ute on the road , not even two weeks ago, everything has gone smoothly until today. I was driving home on the highway, which is 100km/h each way (single lane each way). I notice a 2000ish model Patrol wagon coming the other way with his arm out the window, but didnt take to much notice apart from that to be honest.
As he passes me I hear the loudest thump I've ever heard, I seriously thought to myself I had crashed, so I just closed my eyes and tensed up, for a few seconds. Took me a while to realise what had happened.
This maggot coming the otherway decided to throw something at me, hitting the windscreen. I pulled over about a minute later and notified the police in the direction he was heading.
The damage is a circle of shatter's cracks about the diameter of a 2L coke bottle, just lucky it didnt come through and hit me, or I dare say I wouldnt be writing this.
Cops had no luck catching him, and I didnt get a number plate cause I was more like "****, what just happened".
End result, a stuffed windscreen, costing me $230 bux to be repaired (not till monday), and having the cops inspect my car and take about 30 photos of the damage and car.
What type of maggot does it take to throw something at another vehicle, its ****ing pathetic. The ute has finally had its "new car" damage, that you get as soon as you get a new car.
End rant![]()
ohhhh i recon i woulda just full 180ed the car and ****in flew in the direction he was going to catch him. haha then layed into him with a jack handle! haha sorry to hear the bad news mate.
If it didnt take me about 5 minutes to come with it and realise what had happened, I would have. Atleast gone back and got his number plate. I was in shock, never heard such a loud thump when driving, and caus there was a car coming the other way I thought I had hit it. The thump sound was unreal, I've hit Kangaroo that didnt make that much of a sound. Drinking is settling the nerves now though haha.
Hope karma comes back and hits him twice as hard. There is alot of people that throw crap out there windows. I was once riding my motorbike on the freeway and someone threw a cheeseburger at me.
LMAO VnPlayer, free food, i would've eaten it! :P
I had a coke bottle with coke in it thrown at my car from one guy trying to catch up to my car, this guy was nasty forcing me to drive onto the other side of the road!
I've seen people throw shit out of cars, when i had video recording in my vehicle before the VY everyone that threw stuff out got EPA letters, especially smokers. It's illegal to even drop a butt out the window.
I hit something today too piece of polystrene someone had dumped on the freeway and had broken and a car's gust picked it up onto my bonnet bounced over my vehicle and landed on the cop car's bonnet LOL Luckily i've never had any damage from projectiles being thrown at my vehicle, sounds like you had shit luck!![]()
i fume when i see dick heads in front at night smoking at night and flick the butt, it hits the ground in front of your car and you can see all the glowing red ash flick up and hit your car

If you go down that path be aware that it may in fact be illegal without a proper reason. Emergency vehicles have them for a reason and they're allowed to be there. If you record footage in a shopping centre carpark for example it's illegal, private property. Best place i found that was on the front either where the rear vision mirror is or passenger sunvisor. If only temporary then on the top of the dash in the centre is best. For rear best up high again, otherwise down low on the parcel shelf. You get more of a view from inside the vehicle than at the front and back extremities [and less cleaning of the lenses].
LOL, the example provided above was at speed. Well i presume, because that's all i've seen butts do at speed. So if you can lean on someone else's car at speed then get into stunt acting! :P
tossers like this shit me about as much as motorbike riders who knock your mirrors weaving through cars at the lights.
I got a smashed screen from a nob in a suby coming the other way who hit the concrete barrier right beside me !! lucky the barrier was there or i woud have had a liberty i my lap.
ive been thinking about it for a while becuase i want to put the cameras on the project car, i was planning to have dash mounted gauges so mount it somewhere in there with them so its nearly invisible and mount the recorder and storage device up under the dash, with a switch wired up to the centre console, so i could turn it off in shopping centre carparks or other places where its not legal, is there a way to legally have cameras? i thought it was only illegal if you showed people, like if you record a conversation your allowed to but if you let other people listen to it you can get in troubleIf you go down that path be aware that it may in fact be illegal without a proper reason. Yeah, thats it, rather be here to tell the story, still bloody angry that someone could put someones life in danger for absolutly no reason.
Yeah i hit a crow coming down the longford bridge once, that sure woke me up, but this thump was a whole lot louder then that. Yeah I drive the road 3 -4 times a week, but Im holidays now, plus I dont think I would recognise it again, it was just a stock patrol, didnt take to much notice, until it was to late.
Definatly private property is where youd have to turn it offAnywhere which records private property would be illegal (so even if you got a shot of other peoples places [even if just their front yard]). However that said, if a collision happens or you catch something illegal then authorities like the systems. It's up to you, just dont get caught with them? Other than that if your involved in a collision and police rock up and it's not your fault and they decide to blame you, you have solid evidence you can show them, or you can hold off for a day and check and then tell them, saying you were in shock and forgot about the system.
If you hide them then that would be better, no one will be able to tell they're there![]()
I have like the Noahs arch of road kills with my cars.. Im cursed..lol
Kangaroos, cats, a bird, rabbits, wallabies, a bat, a snake..I have only had my licence 2 years!
I was following a ute one day and a big stick fell out of it, hit the road and bounced up into the front of my car. I pulled up straight away to check my car (didn't think twice to get the rego of the ute) Luckily didn't do any real damage but left a black mark I still haven't been able to remove. (it looks like I scraped my car on something)
The only other thing that has happened which is kinda on topic of a dog act is someone scraped my car along the top of the back wheel and a bit down the trolley strip either reversing out or parking their car at a club and no note or anything, just some free dark blue paint..
I was just glad because the day before I nearly ripped the trolley strips off! now they are here to stay..lol
WTF?!?! He was in a Nissan Patrol and the cops couldn't catch him? Were the cops on postie bikes?
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
even if you cant show the footage to the police they would be useful in what happened to tom cos you could just go back through the video and get the number plate, cops wont know the differenceDefinatly private property is where youd have to turn it off Anywhere which records private property would be illegal (so even if you got a shot of other peoples places [even if just their front yard]). Actually, not at all, you only have to turn it off it it is recording actions which would otherwise be private. Being in a supermarket is not classed as an area where you would expect privacy. being in your bathroom is. I can go and take photos of anyone in their front yard and it is legal as it is not a place you would expect privacy. Now add an 8 foot fence and that changes. I can walk through the street photographing/video taping anyone I like if anyone threatens me for doing so it carries a maximum 5 year penalty for the threat.
there are perfectly legal ways to play back any recording under certain circumstances. Simply put though, if you have video devices in your car recording entrance points, providing you make sure it isnt recording through someones house window where one would expect to be afforded privacy, there is really no law against it.

It is actually illegal to take photos in a shopping centre, unless it's in relation to a collision. I have looked into this one and even been told off by security at a few shopping centres for doing so with just my mobile. Then i checked it with local police station, and yea it's illegal.
Didn't know about the houses, thought they would come under the same private property rule which you'd need permission first.
I guess word of advice would be to check with your local police station, after all if they're going to have a problem with it, they're the ones who'll be coming after you most likely.

ive been thinking of getting one of these:
Vehicle Car Camera DVR Video Recorder & 2GB SD Card - eBay, Other Security Systems, Security Systems, Electronics. (end time 21-Jun-09 17:02:43 AEST)
Wrong again.
I would suggest you ask the local police, then find out the facts afterwards. Being a photographer I know what is wrong and what is right and what laws I am and am not breaking.
The only way it is illegal is if you do not have a right to be there or have not sought permission to be there. You do not need said permission in shopping centres as they are a "public location". However, if the representatives of the owners ask you to stop you must. They CANNOT have you delete any images and even police require an order to delete any images from any device.
Oh before you say police said otherwise, one of the photography forums I use has a photographer who is also a lawyer and specialises specifically in photographers rights.
For anyone interested in knowing some of their basic rights: http://www.artslaw.com.au/legalinfor...hersRights.asp
Sorry to go off topic OP.
