Michael Schumacher revealed as TV show Top Gear's 'Stig'
LONDON (AFP) - Formula One legend Michael Schumacher was on Sunday unveiled as "the Stig", the mystery man who test drives cars on British cult motoring show "Top Gear".

The identity of the white-clad driver is kept a closely guarded secret, but Schumacher, who was Formula One world drivers' champion seven times, finally revealed himself in the first of a new series of the show on Sunday night.

Presenter Jeremy Clarkson pretended not to recognise him at first, asking him what he used to do before he became famous as the Stig, but then excitedly shouted to the studio audience: "It's Michael Schumacher!"

Former Formula One driver Perry McCarthy was Top Gear's original Stig, who dressed all in black during the first two series.
The show is shown in more than 100 countries worldwide.

I'd say a hoax, reaso being schuey bought the FXX with him to use on the test circuit. Im having a guess we might see a few stigs over the coming series. One will be real, but which one?

I always thought that if the Stigs identity was revealed to the public, he would be replaced with another "Unknown" identity Stig... so does this mean that IF Shuey WAS the Stig, that he will be replaced?? Hmmm the mind boggles!

I call hoax, and also call a new 'stig' not called stig but a new character all together, just my 2 cents. If you've seen the footage it looks very set up to me, a new way of either introducing the new character/killing off stig, or trying the media to stop trying to find out who it is.

He’s a different body shape to the Stig.

Plus, there is no way Ferrari would allow Michael to fly around a track in random cars for 10 weeks of the year. The insurance the BBC would have to pay for that would be astronomical considering if he gets hurt, Ferrari would lose its main driver and test driver.

Though I am excited that Top Gear is back!

The same show at the end shows that he is not the stig and it was a joke. purely based on schuey being their to drive the FXX which Ferrari probabaly wouldn't allow anyone else to drive.

^^^ That is a valid point.

My understanding is, that you are invited to buy a FXX and even after you have handed over the cash... you never get to take it home... they store it for you and you can come out... pay some more money and take it out on a track. Once your done... hand the keys back over and they service and store it.

So they probably wouldn't anyone other than Schuey give it the beans around th test track.

One thing I am fairly certain of is that the Stig ownes a Caterham RS.

He usually gives the cars a good thrashing and takes then right to the edge... but when he was doing the lap in that thing... he was on the edge and then some but also looked very comfortable. Just got that sort of vibe from the lap in the caterham.

So that also rules schuey out... ferrari wouldn't let him own anything else...

lol - Shue probably owns lots of stuff. He just needs to keep it quiet. Betchya most of it is priceless historic stuff. Just a theory though.

shuey isn't there main driver nor is he their test driver and im pretty sure he isn't fully employed by Ferrari ( just an advisor) so i can't see why it wouldn't/couldn't be him.
