Best thing to do is to go to your GP and talk to them about it. They will probably send you to a psych for evaluation and will work in conjunction with your GP.
My cousin has ADDHD took the pills and all was good but he didn't like them & went off them which made things worse, he now smokes weed and that seems to be helping him relax/concentrate but i personally don't recommend it, best bet is to talk to a doctor mate![]()

Wouldn't recommend self medication either. Things tend to build up in the background and when you finally get off it it can slap you around a bit. Also habitual marijuana use while suffering nervous disorders is a horrific combination. Psychotic episodes, intense paranoia and schitzophrenic symptoms can result. I know from experience.
ill say i do smoke weed and yes it does worry me because i have a history of schizophrenia in the family but it seems to help at the time but thats why i wanna get on the right stuff instead of just buying dexies off someone

When you give up weed and other stuff man just take it easy and gradually wean yourself off, otherwise you can end up with serious anxiety! Other things that will help is eating the right kinds off food (plenty of fresh veg/fruit) and cutting out other foods (although talk to your doctor before you take things out of your diet) & a easy half hour walk around the block will also work wonders![]()

Agreed on the gradual ween off. I just stopped and was prescribed benzo's for the after effects, which i then OD'd on lol. The thing is, when you go to your doc and tell them you smoke, they'll want you to stop straight away and put you on meds.
Also I've heard weed and ADD meds don't mix well, so be careful if you do end up being prescribed something

a mate was diagnosed bipolar and self medicated with weed and pills etc, ended up being properly diagnosed with adhd, that was presenting bipolar symptoms because not being able to do stuff was making him manic/depressed.
i say get proper help, weed might be someone's cup of tea socially, but as a serious medication for serious issues i wouldn't recommend it.
i have ADHD i was diagnosed when i was 3 also have bipolar
I have/had ADD. Reason why I say have/had is that when I was younger I was diagnosed with ADD and went through the whole 'shebang' of getting brain scans, evaluations, etc - you have to remember being a half-wit doesn't mean you have ADD (not a personal attack against you). I've seen heaps of kids attempt to claim that they have ADD based on the fact that they don't pay attention at school and are easily distracted when only 4% to 12% of school aged children have the condition. ADD is when you try your hardest to listen but find yourself drawing, not when you sit there and find the class boring so you draw to entertain yourself and pass time. The younger generation has short attention spans and disobediance by nature and not due to some condition affecting all of them. Back 40 years ago if a stranger told a group of kids who were misbehaving to stop then they did, and now a stranger doing the same thing has a large change of the young delinquints to become angry and agressive. Thats not because they posses some disorder- thats because they are tools.
Just because a doctor (GP) diagnoses ADD doesn't actually mean you have it- this is one of the most common disorders which is mis-diagnosed.
VryNeat: You said you are 18? Well you are reaching the end of your teenage years and entering life as an adult and as you can not 'outgrow' ADD (as previously believed) there is strong evidence to suggest that although you don't 'outgrow' ADD you actually adapt yourself in the later teenage years. So if it is infact ADD then you should be able to notice a difference in your behaviour from when you were 15 and now. I have never been fired (or come close to it) from any job I have had but from a personal point of view I've had to put in more effort than others to acheive the same result. Unless your chosing jobs which require you to pay close attention to detail for 8 hours straight where you have to remain in a stationary position which has a large amount of distractions then I wouldn't go blaming losing jobs on a disorder. As for the medication side of things- once you see your GP then it might only take a few days before you can start taking medication however I don't believe the affect of medication is instant.

i was diagnosed with adhd when i was 9 yrs old, had the entire poke and prod thing, did the brain wave test and goodness knows what other tests i did, was that long ago i dont remember. i personaly dont beleive you out grow it, there are days where i just cant concentrate still, and im 31. at your age, there is seriously nothing you can do, you think you may be adhd, i sugest you seek medical advice. a doctor can diagnose you, but because of your age it wont help you with any medication, dont quote me, but imsure there is a age cutoff for the drugs of dexamphetamine, and ritalyn.
best thing to do is give up the weed, see a doc, and take it from there. and if you take tablets, it's not a instant affect, it takes time for a result, so dont expect a overnight miricle

make sure you are always supervised when around the sharps cabinet... and also be careful when around poisons/acids.
Having a mate who had adhd and smoked weed i can say it helped him for a while. He would go from dick to mellow man in less than 2 puffs. BUT it seriously f#$ked him up after a while. Its not just the weed as i have mates who still smoke it and have no worries, its the condition mixed with the meds and it finnaly came to a head after a year or 2 and he just went spako, basically he lost his job, his long time caring partner, smashed his rental joint up and he owes creditors 10's of thousands for loans he decided to just never pay because he never gave a shit. This didnt happen all at once, it just happened slowly and it was finally apparrent that he was seriously f#@ked up and was in way too far. Its taken years now for him to sort things out, even just so he can get a small loan for furniture and a car now. My advice would be take it easy, get off the weed soonish and see the doc's for the correct meds and take them at the correct dose at the correct time. Dont go stupid and just eat them some days and take none the next..sounds easy but my mate seemed to have an issue with this and he paid for it.
I know a few people with ADD and mostly from what I can see they had a bad diet while growing up, I'm pretty sure it's cureable with better food liek for example I've never met or seen a ADD vegetarian, but most of these kids end up smoking weed and long term that gives you another whole set of problems, like getting paranoid and not seeing things quite "real" even though you think it is. Best to get off the weed the sugar and pretty much any food man "modified" and see what happens
As many as 1 in 160 people r diagnosed with ADD, so there is a lot of help available out there! U need 2 talk 2 a doctor u trust. As a medications endorsed nurse, i don't recommend mixing prescription drugs with dope....the long-term effects just wouldn't b worth it mate!!!
I'm a strong believer that you can solve, if not minimise the problem with the right diet and excercise. Too many foods are full of nothing more than preservatives and other rubbish. Even bread nowadays is so processed it resembles nothing like it was 25 years ago.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
Agree totally....look after ur body....and it shall look after u![]()
im with you on that one
i was on the drugs ofcourse, as all kids at the time seemed to be back on in the 80's, but i was also diet controlled, quite a lot of foods i have now i wasnt able to have back then. and excersice was a good way to use that huge suply of energy i had. soccer and bmx racing i was good at.
even to this day some foods i simply cant eat, anything with mint in it is a good example, doesnt make me hypo or anything, just loose concentration.
adhd is easy to control, easy to live with, most people are just plain lazy to adjust their eating habbits, lifestyle and other things that require changing. everyone is to easy to put kids on teh drugs,

I was initially diagnosed with ADD when I was little, took the tablets until before I became a teenager... I'd say at the time I did have trouble concentrating and I was the worst kind of little shit (getting into fights, etc.) but I've found that in the last 6 years I don't have that problem anymore... of the medication I think it's evil; it changes the way you think all together (I would almost say it makes you scared of everything to an extent, but not), I absolutely hated taking them.
The people I associated with in primary/high school probably influenced and encouraged the negative behavior but getting a job, having a family and shitloads of responsibility is probably the number one thing that set me straight... my job has given me focus and a desire to progress (ambition) and having a family keeps everything in perspective (can't do this, can't afford that).
In terms of other drugs I'm clean, and I hardly drink (only socially); I feel the weed is a bad thing and have seen first hand the damage it can cause
My final point is in discourse to what everyone else has said; I hate sports, don't exercise and have an awful diet (I refuse to drink water) and I think I'm fine, though I'm sure with different people there are different dietary needs
I dont have AD....Oh look at the kitty.
Oh on the subject of diet - a really top notch healthy diet will erode your teeth faster than a bad diet. Acid rich foods such as fruits and berries will corrode the enamel casing on your teeth, more than neutral foods like meats fats sugars and starches.
I have ADHD, was diagnosed when i was 5 I have been on meds most my life otherwise i just cant concentrate and i do stupid shit. When I was 14 my parents me and the doc decided we would see how i go without the meds, I went off the rails and started smoking weed and drinking heap, like i was going to school drunk.Inbetween all of this i went back on my meds, I used to think my parents school teachers were absolute ****s, but when i straightend my life out i realised they are there to help me. I realised i was acting like a **** head when my cousin who is also ADHD went off the rails ended up in grey lands mental because he was having anxiety attacks, scitzo, beeing hell phycotic and was abusing his parents and arrested repeated times and also pulling a knife out on his father my uncle, it really opened my mind to what this was actually doing to me so i quit it about age 16 im now 18 and currently having another trial period of my meds. And i seem to be going pretty good.
Dude if you do get meds seriously use them wisely and dont sell them like my other adhd mate does cos it ****s with peoples heads.
dont want to sound rude, but on the other end of the scale, maybe you need to change your work habits/ethics? 15 jobs at age 18 is alot
