    Default Fuel prices

Hi all, with Queensland just having lost the 8 cents per litre fuel subsity, prices have risen dramatically since July 1. Fuel (ULP) was sitting at 112.9 cents per litre prior to the rise and is now selling for as much as 131.9 cents per litre in Brisbane. That is an increase of 19 cents a litre . That may not seem like a lot but it has many flow on effects. Higher fuel prices = increased transport costs which in turn flows on to higher food prices and so on. The list is endless really. Pensioners and the low paid workers will really feel the pinch.... it totally sucks!

Just wondering what you guys in other staes are paying for fuel at the moment?

Last week (monday to friday) I filled up 5 times, with around 50 litres each time. I paid beween 118 to a 128. It doesnt work out much more, but when you put near 250litres in a week in, every little bit was counting. I just pay what I have to because I aint getting anywhere with out it, but cheaper fuel would always be a bonus (dont suggest lpg )

I must say im thoroughly enjoying being on holidays, I drove up the street once, and took the car for a quick drive, thats it, a whole week and nothing spent of fuel

Im on first name basis with the chick at the servo, a good sign I spend to much time there lol.

i feel your pain brother, i feel your pain. for so long qld has had things cheaper, our wages have been lower yada yada yada the list goes on and on, now the fuel subsady is gone, just watch the price of everything double. just means we are going to have to tighten our belts and bit and harden up. had it to easy up here for to long.

will be interesting to see what happens with the price of grocerys and the likes iwth the extra cost of fuel now.

There was no subsidy, thats just labor spin. Brisbane didnt pay a state excise like every other state. Now they have introduced the state excise because once again a labor state government is running yet ANOTHER state into the ground.

The spin doctors on both sides of politics are a joke.

exactly mate. sad thing is, we all need petrol. So in the end, even though its wrong and its unavoidable, were going to be paying whatever the servo is selling it for, simply because we need it

Yeah Caliber, I remember those days but sadly they are well and truly gone. It was very cheap back then but wages were also a lot lower at the time also. I was a packer for a refrigeration manufacturer here and my weekly wage was $44.00 and I paid $3.50 in tax out of that. I had an old '63 XL Falcon paddock bomb at the time and it only took $10.00 worth of super to fill it to the brim from empty and that lasted me a couple of weeks

You could be right there Minux, but my understanding was that the subsidy was tax payer funded, or at least that is what was said on a news report not that long ago now.

Anna Blighs (AKA Captain Bligh the pirate) reasoning for removing the subsity was that she needed momey for infastructure. She has also raised the price of electricty, increased vehicle rego by 25% and there is also talk of selling off the port of Brisbane and privatisation of Qld Rail. Like you say mate, ANOTHER State being run into the ground. NEVER AGAIN will I vote for a labor government in Qld! Old Joe maybe dead but he could still do a better job of running the state
