Default Questions/Suggestions in regard to IB wheels.

Howdy dudes and dudettes.. I'm still alive!

Straight to the point > I bought a set of second hand wheels off a mate. I've never heard of this brand before but It's called I B wheels. Their site is ibwheelsandtyres.com. Anyone know of any faults with this brand? Should I be weary? He sold them very cheap because one is kind of fire damaged. The rim is fine, the rubber was pretty much new when the damage occured but the rubber is a little charred where it would have been in the top of the wheel arch. Is this safe to use? And, or, is there away to make this safe seeing at there is at least 95 percent tread?

And least of all, it seems that said mate has had these rims face down in the dirt for a long time, either that or there were some vicious snails around? Part of the rims have what look like roots may have grown under them. Now the hose and rags cleaned most of it however the marks are still there. They aren't scratches i'm positive. Now I've tried tyre cleaner, metal polish, carby cleaner, two stroke fuel, house hold bleach, normal soap, break cleaner, wd 40, degreaser, window cleaner, tyre shine, and even a scraper which ended badly. Anyone have any suggestions? PLEASE.

I would seriously put new tyres on the rims mate. Charred tyres are a recipe for disaster IMO. The fire would have made the rubber brittle and it would easily fall apart at hi-way speed or under hard braking applications or even cornering. Play it safe mate and spend some money on new tyres; it may just save your life

Hey cheers for the reply buddy. I gave them all a good clean and look over today and like I said only one of them is burnt/charred so i've only put two wheels on the front for the time being. Goodbye to the Manta rims! The other three aren't damaged however do have this horrible marks on them as explained in my first post.

The website doesn't give me much info on what these ones are made from, but i'm thinking it might be some type of porous metal? I'm sure whatever it is could be scraped off, but I already marked it a bit using the scraper and just a layer came off. Any ideas on how to get rid of these marks/stains anyone?

See pics attached of good from far but far from good

The picture of the wheel against the clothes line is the bad one, you can see the rubber slightly charred on top. The other picture (sorry it's not too great quality) shows the evil marks that are currently smiting me. Ideas?

    Cheers

Wow, I think I may have well found the actual rim and product number. It says its Aluminium Alloy.

Sydney Special Vehicles: For Car Body Kits, HSV Parts, Mag Wheels, Tail Lights, Bonnet Scoops and More

Anyone have any tips for cleaning stains from aluminium alloy?
