I've seen some silly amounts in things like "Just Cars" and the like.
I am not sure if in Queensland you can just walk in an buy a set of plates...I am pretty sure you have to be putting them onto a vehicle you are getting registered. Must be different in NSW and VIC.
I've got a few old plates lying around...my late Father-in-law worked for the Main Roads up here, and one of his jobs was disposing of the plates people handed in. He had all sorts of plates he brought home. Some of the nicest were the NSW Bicentennial plates with the enamelled picture on one end. I have a couple saying from NSW saying "HEY-928" (for the Porsche lovers...) and "157-NUT", for those of us crazy about '57 Chevs I suppose...
Remember when Queensland went from letters first, numbers last, to the current green and white numbers first, letters last plates back in the early eighties? The changed over at OOO-000, and there was a big draw to see who would get those prized plates...strangely enough, a government minster won the draw...how odd... :b:
I wonder what
those plates would be worth now?
The hair-salon guru Stefen I think bought the Queesland re-release historic type enamel black and white plate with "1" on it.
A guy selling overseas number plates at a local swap meet recently had boxed sets he had made up of all fifty USA states selling for around $100 I seem to recall...what a way to "wallpaper" that spare room or wall of your shed!
