    Unhappy neighbours (car stereo)

hi all i know this is prob a stupid question but i have a neighbor who comes home from 9:30 onwards from work but he always has some frigen dance (i do like dance) music pumpin all the way up the street and his drive. my gripe is we have a 8yo who is in bed about 8-8:30, how do i approach him? im thinkin as soon as he drives up the drive and gets out of the car, but if he is like my mister i pretty much cant talk to him til he comes in from the garage. or should i leave it? it just that we are trying for another and i think i can get him back with a baby.

Be polite, since it's only 9pm it's a case of courtesy, not law. 9pm really isn't that late man.

you can try approach him. see how you go. He might not give a shit either, which i suspect he won't given that he's already proving that he's inconsiderate.

What do you mean you can't talk to your mister or this guy until they come in from the garage? what sort of a rule is that??!

By "get him back with a baby" what game are you talking about?

In terms of law, the noise must be excessive and sustained, which is hours on end. Police can deal with this noise anytime of the day or night, but depending on your local laws as to what kind of noise may be made during certain times. As dumb as this guy probably is i doubt very much that he's breaking any laws.

according to a relative who's a cop there are no times on noise restriction, if its too loud and creating a nuisance it can be considered public disturbance, so be polite to the guy, and if he's a tool just talk to your local donut munchers. (yeah i know thats a stereotype, but mcdonalds munchers doesnt have the same ring).

Which i stated in teh post directly above yours, however local councils DO have their own laws on noise which police can enforce.
Generally though, it must be sustained and excessive.

Approach him at another time (not when he first gets home) with the baby in your arms and politely bring it up. The woman with baby thing works on most guys, unless he's a total tool.

If he had any idea, he would know that you never crank it anywhere near where you're gonna park, or especially where you live, as that's just advertising the fact that you've got a system to any would-be thieves. Who knows, his stereo will probably get knicked soon - problem solved!

its not a rule its just him i guess. y isnt it normal?
he is a 'p' plater he and his misses brought the house last year and the first year he hasnt touched it, it didnt move so i assume the must have lost it (i had seen him ride a bike a couple of times) its a vt wagon. i know i sound old (only 29) but gee i at least turn mine down before i enter my street no matter what time out of consideration for my neighbours. i guess hes a tool.

you don't sound old at all, if you hadn't mentioned kids i'd have had you at 15 years younger.
No, not normal that someone would treat you that way - sounds a little strange actually.
I've had trouble working out what the rest of the post means.
They brought a house from somewhere? where did they bring it from? but they lost it because you saw him ride a bike?

As for turning it down before your street, thats great for people that live in your sleep, not so great for anyone with kids trying to sleep prior to your street.

Really cant understand how "doof doof doof"for 15/20 seconds coming up the street warrants any action.....and yes,I have 2 young children....My clubby rumbling up the road would be louder than a coupla 12" subbies.....Wonder what my neighbours thought when I was a P plater...cranky ported rotary idling for 15 mins at 6 in the morning....buy ya kid some earplugs....

bahahaha i always get in trouble for talkin about one thing then changing to something else (but its along the same lines of the first comment) its just to make sure people listen lol,ok il try again....they brought the house next to us and his car had not moved in that first year time frame. and yes i did see him ride a bike whenever i seen him within the first year (im a talker not a typer). oh and the times he has seen me he has never spoken/look to me, i have spoken to his misses thats how i found out hes a chef(did i mention that). and i dont have a very good stereo (not like his) and gee im never out at night any how...p.s i hope i dont sound immature. and the mister starts work at 6am is up at 5am finishes at 2:30pm but goes to bed say 11pm - 12am, claims hes tired hmmmm but i guess i choose not to speak because almost every day he comes home hes sh***y.

    sounds like a stellar relationship!!!

Sounds like you might be better off talking to his partner, i take it you mean they bought the house (as opposed to brought) so they probably aren't going anywhere for a while. Use the mrs to help you out or wind your hubby up next time he's tired and send him over!!

just be polite as most have said and speak to him

i had a problem with a dude down the street who has a r32
he was doing power skids past my house getting crossed up from curb to curb for close to 100m

i simply just went to his house and knocked on the door and spoke to him
told him i didnt care if he did it but dont do it here, go to lonsdale ( a industrial area)

my neighbour across the road has 3 daughters who plays on the road and rides around abit and i didnt want anything to happen to them or anyone
told him that if he stuffed up or they were out he would ruin not just his life but the family and friends around this area

he has since done no power skids or fly bys just crusies past at 25kmh all the time now

yeah most younguns like me will try our luck and if we get no bad feedback, we will generally keep doing it. it only takes one person to point out that its too late or too dangerous or whatever and i'll listen.

he doesnt know that u have a kid and wouldnt realise what time bed time is. just politely tell him or his gf that it would be considerate of him to keep it down late at night.
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
    PM with any info.

It's a shame you don't have a good relationship with your neighbours. My neighbour directly adjacent to my driveway will often pop his head over the fence to let me know they're going to bed early, and to keep the spannering down to a minimum noise. And other nights, he'll pop up to tell me they're out 'till 1am, and that I can keep the quiet music and drilling going 'till they get back.

If only all people were that nice

Hmmmm......what about a twist then? What if you had a neighbour ask any of you to change your exhaust coz it wakes their kids up?(Seeing I cant see how doof doof can be louder than pacemakers and lukeys...)

I changed to a quieter exhaust when I moved from a busy main road to a quiet residential street.

Granted, I have never liked loud exhausts and wanted to change anyway but couldn't justify the cost.

I still turn the music right down as soon as I turn off the main road to get to my house though, no matter what time of day it is

Wish i had a next door neighbor as good as that ....
Mine just gives me dirty looks, don't know why, i turn my system down before i enter the street (also so people don't steal it) and i keep the car below 2500rpm (my exhaust isn't that loud anyway).....
So I've just accepted that his a douche lol

Honestly mate i have been in your situation before. EXCEPT i was on the reverse side, i used to have a frikin killer sound system, i used to right into the whole car entertainment systemsn, i used to do alot of late shifts and didn't use t get home till 11pm. I did have the music crankin at that time. I when i was working on the car one sunday the lady from next door came up to me (wasn't rude or anything) and just said if i could turn it down before i entered the estate as it some times woke their kids up. I was totally cool with it and was just like sure and i apologized and everything was all good.

But mate unless you try you wont know what happens so if anything its not going to hurt you to give it a go.

Plus you never know he could be reading these posts right now
