    Talking help picking a camera

hey guys and girls I'm looking for a cheap camera between 200-300 and was wonder what people found to be best?

OK what i will use the camera for,

1 take pics when me and the wife go out driving just family pics beach hiking that sort of thing.

2 we are going to surfers paradise [fun parks] in September and i want to get good pics there

3 just pics of the car and in side the house.

my main concerns are when i take a pic with the camera i have now it always looks crap and dark and i can never take a good pic when its dark inside or out heres a link of what i was thinking about Sony Cybershot DSC-S950 Black Discounted Now at Camerastore.com.au

so any suggestions or if u want to put a link up that would help alot

also I'm in Adelaide if that means anything in terms of camera stores thanks Scott

Best Camera i have ever owned....

    Olympus 850 SW

3metre water proof, 1.5m shock proof.......takes the best pictures of any digital camera i've owned...and ive had quite a few...

Seriously check out the olympus models.....very good camera's

and steer clear of sony. i've had 4 of them and each time they have screwed up.... then finally bought a canon but it was shithouse too.

    go for an olympus......

its good knowing you canchuck it around/ get it wet etc...
    it's 8.0MP....and cost 320ish (if i remember correctly)

You get what you pay for mate.

If you want real good quality pictures (no video), then a camera around the 1000 mark is where it all happens. But saying that, due to the plethora of controls there is, it helps to really know how to take good pictures.

I picked up a Samsung WB-500 for about 500 lol - it does 720 HD video and takes good pictures using dual image stabilisation, it's single/multi AF and 10MP. It is automatic meaning you just turn the wheel and point and click.

I have just come from using cheapish cameras and I will say do yourself a favour and spend that little bit more for a half decent one.

some canons are better than others, the cheapy ones are rubbish of course. For your problem of pictures looking dark you need one with the largest lens possible to let in more light. This is why SLR's take better pictures indoors. Saying that i have a canon powershot 610 and it takes good pictures, especially outside during the day.

Olympus hands down. I have an Olympus 10MP camera (SLR style) and my missues has a 7MP Olympus and they both take AWESOME photo's. I did a lot of research before I purchased them and the Olympus came out on top every where!
