Default Stonnington Parking Fine Fees (No Standing Zone)

Anyone here been pinged by the Stonnington Council grey ghosts ?

Went in to Caulfield Racecourse Tabaret yesterday (Saturday) for a quick meeting and parked out the front in the ticket parking area

Ticket machine says no ticket required at present and I noticed it was Monday to Friday so walked across the road and into the venue without looking back

Came out 20 minutes or so later and noticed parking inspectors on other side of the road taking photos of cars and punching numbers in and as I walked back to my car I noticed the 'No Standing Saturday Race Meetings' sign I'd missed when I originally pulled up as I was more concerned about buying a ticket and stupidly didn't look for any other parking restriction signs

Anyhow, despite not having a ticket stuck to my window I'm assuming I'll get a letter in the mail in a few weeks and was curious if anyone else knows what sort of fine parking in a no standing generally attracts ?

    Cheers

I was thinking something around the $60/$70 mark would probably be about right, just don't want to get the shock of opening the fine and seeing $180 or something there....

dno mate, suck though. there was a case in the paper the other day where someone got booked in the westfields parking lot for parking in a disables spot. the only marking to say it was a disabled spot was a 1 sided roof mounted sign that you cant see when you pull in. council rfused to remove the fine also....

People always want to have a bit of a whinge about parking cops and how they just revenue raising. You see it all the time on TT and ACA. 'Unfair parking police'... blah blah blah... Don't park illegally an you wont get fined. I've been done twice in my life. Once over 10 years ago at bondi at 1am. I didnt bother to read the sign that said "no parking after 1am". was my own fault.

Ha I got done for 110 bucks or whatever it was, dropped my brother off at the train station. Theres a "No Standing" zone towards the end of the row of car parks, I drove into that, stopped for less than 5 seconds brother got out of the car and I drove off.

Got a letter saying I was observed parking in a no standing zone. I was pretty pissed. Made my brother pay it and he now catches the bus to the train station. Win.

Grennan, that is one that you could argue. 'No standing' and 'no stopping' zones are two different things. You can pull up and drop off in a no standing zone and then get doing again. You just can't stop the car there. No stopping means no stopping under any circumstances.

Exactly how i got off a ticket for a no standing because i didn't technically stop, i slowed to an area and rolled through it as i was in a rush for work and i had this stain of an inspector telling me he saw me park the car and get out etc etc.

my dad got done a few weeks ago, i think he said he pulled up to a no standing zone across from the franga cinema's, and stopped for no more than 30 seconds, my sister jumped outta the car, and he drove away, but got pulled over and got a fine for $110...

and also at work, at the building site there is hardly anywhere to park but there is a nature strip on the side of the house(corner block) so us tradies have been parkin up there, we have been doin this for 5 months and last week 2 of the tradies got a $70 fine for parking on nature strip, there is no signs anywhere stating you cant..but meh i didnt get done cause i was at another job..so dont really care lol
