Default anyone know a good dentist?

hi there, after a good dentist as im planning on getting so major dental/orthodontic work done, had a brief chat with the local dentist when i had my root canal done last year, he reckons i'll need wisdoms taken out, teeth realigned, bracers put in,and something about my jaw too :-| as my top teeth over hang the bottom.

so any of you see a good one?

i suppose cheaper is better but i guess you pay what you get for? rather not have a shit job >.<

Get medical cover dude, such as medibank private etc... they take alot of the cost.. i had a 450 job done, only payed 150!

if ur wisdom teeth have to be taken out, get someone who does it everyday of the year, there usally skilled and quick and if anything goes wrong they know how to deal with it. My wifes going to get hers taken out next month, all 4 teeth, the orthoditic says he can do it all less then an hour.

i had medicare private, still cost $10000 out of pocket of my operation

we got maybe $2000 back for the hospital stay?

the issue is its elective surgery. I had a Bimax btw. 7 hours of surgery? 6 months till i could chew solids properly, 20 months later and im still missing a little feeling in my chin. but its mostly there.

my work cost round $15,000 in total...but on the bright side my Xrays look like i took a grenade to the face (awesome ) and ive got the worlds perfect bite! and i can actually bite people/things again...

you may not need a bimax, i had a 13mm underbite, they told me they were suprised i didnt look deformed...

the upper jaw is the painful part to break, 4 places the snap it and bolt it together, feels like your face is going to fall apart everytime you step...i remember that feeling :P not a nice one!

I had a wisdom tooth taken out 3 years ago at the local dentist. The dentist a female used a local (needle in the gums) and it took her an hour to rip the tooth out and cost me $150.Pretty cheap but not worth the pain I had to go through.

Goon- yeah thats minor dental work. im looking at major, duno how the private health care companies are with that. will have to research.

Paradox- lovely, i get to look forward to having the feeling of my face falling apart

satos- its wierd how painful problems in you mouth are. my rotten tooth i had the root canal done was the most painful thing i've ever experienced. i didnt even think, i just paid the guy to fix it >.< lol

Your dentist will refer you to the appropriate specialist.

My sister had something similar done.

All wisdom teeth cut out, braces, then lower jaw broken on both sides and extended.

The wisdom teeth put her out of action for about 3 weeks. The braces were on for over a year, and then the operation knocked her on her ass for months. Pretty much all food went through a straw for ages.

Then add the follow up visits to the specialists over the following few years and the total timeframe for something like this is around 2-3 years.

Cost around $16,000 in total, with my parents paying around $3000 out of their pocket to cover the gap. They had top shelf private health insurance from BHP though.

GAH! Dead tooth causes pain and leads to bruxism.

My current predicament, I keep chewing since it feels like there is food in my tooth.
