looks like it does not much lol. but i still want one for the WTF factor when ppl get in my car lol. i bought it for drifting haha.
It actually makes the torsional rigidity of the body a lot firmer. Probably won't feel much in a street car, but on a track you would be surprised. Does to the centre of the car what a strut brace does to the front.
My driveway goes up on a fair angle, turning in, you can hear the whole car flex, No matter what car it is...
Monkey bars prevent floorpan flex within reason, nothing compared to a full brace setup, But for people that do a lot of track work, be it both touring or strip. These are Quite common in 4WD an offroad vehicles, for the crazy angles to stop too much flex.
Cheers

Actually, what it does is stop your kids from kicking your rear floor mats under the front seats.
This is a personal pet hate of mine.
Wonder if it will fit my VZ?
I know someone with one in an R32 and in combination with front and rear strut braces and bigger swaybars, the rigidity of the car is crazy.
As we all know the old commodore dosnt have much between the chassis rails, take a side impact its like being in a collapsed tent.
i noticed a massive step going from my vp to my supra as the supra as around 6-7 beams more than the vp joining the rails, the result is a firm and solid chassis, unless you take the roof off mine then it feels like its going to snap in half
as lukes proved once you get to a certian torque level things start to twist and you crack windscreens and twist chassis's :P
Yes it is useful, No its not for wankers that run prinny. that websites confusing however.
Hey I never knew you could buy these off the shelf! Luke and I just invented it a few weeks ago :P
These have been around for years. Ricers have used them for a long time, it's just recently that mainstream hoons have been using them. Sorry, "car enthusiasts".
I would like to see propper results of tests after a car has been put on a jig. I cannot see it having virtually any effect on tortional rigitiy untill it has been properly triangulated vertially as part of a propper cage. It could have some merrit in a large side impact though.

It stops floor pan flex. So in turn it also reduces twisting.
Yeah they work i made a few things like this a few years ago but didn't post anything about it, after i posted my first one and was told it was all in my head lol. I tryed a few differant things and seen some good results, even buy just jacking the car at certain points.

The cage in our race car has a bar where this monkey bar is attached.....so I'm assuming most track cars wouldn't need one anyways as the cage would do more.
