Hey Everyone. I'm new to the forum so just saying a quick hello.
I've been into Commodores for quite a few years now; starting off with a 1979 VB Sedan (253 V8), then a '95 VS (V6), and as of last friday afternoon, the new pride and joy - a 2005 VZ SV6 190kw! Quite a difference from my old rides, and turns a few more heads than normal
Take care.
welcometo the site buddy,
is the VZ a manual or Auto?..
Welcome aboard![]()

Welcome aboard mate!
Hey Guys. Thanks for the replies. S2 VR - Its the semi-auto (with shift paddles). Taking a bit to get used to as I can't hear the rev's yet.... soon to be changed though hehe....
Red VB - Yeah mate it was a tough call. Some good times in that beast, but it was getting way too much for the budget to keep it running well, and it didn't like any long trips to Brissy, so yeah... I've still got the VS, but the plan is that the missus is driving the SV6 for the time being, and then we'll look at a VE SS Ute for her down the track.
After spending a bit of time in the forums, I've noticed that there isn't many members with red coloured VZ SV6's... Mostly blue and silver. I've seen a couple of red ones sneaking around Brissy, but heaps of every other variety. Any reason for this?
Our preferences when looking around were black or red, which really limited the playing field. There were a few black ones around, but most were pretty dodgy. I just happened to come across our red one sitting in the back of a caryard, which had only just come in, and I was attached to it right from the startThe brightness of the red just strikes you as you walk past it.
Just added a pic in my profile album of my old '79 VB for interests sake. I'm trying to find some other pics of my other cars, which I will add soon. Plus, I'll be taking some photos of the new SV6 this arvo which will be on here soon too.
welcome to JC.
another VZ SV6, dont have many of them on herelol.
Haha yeah so I see. Hence why I was wanting to find out how many red ones were out there making me "partially" unique by owning one...
Hey Everyone. Its been a little while since I've been on the forum due to laptop virus issues, but I'm back with news of a new toy
I've got a new addition, being another 2005 VZ, but this time a Blue Acclaim sedan to sit alongside the VZ SV6. Unfortunately, by old '95 VS died, requiring a complete auto transmission rebuild, as well as many other problems. Shame really, but the new Acclaim is a worthy replacement and a fantastic drive.
So this is where I say hello (again)!
I've got a black '06 VZ SV6.. just happened to stumble across it. Just wasted a manual one, and luck woudl have it, the local dealership had one just come in......
I just love the way other motorists on the highway think it's an unmarked cop car.........
And Yes, it is a manual
SweetYeah we have been pretty lucky to find both of ours, but it was a bit of leg work at first seeing what was out there, and when I was looking for a replacement for the VS, I really wanted another VZ, and man there was some sh*t out there with a bucket load of k's on the clock.
Is there much difference between the '05 model and the '06 model SV6?
Well mine's actually an '05 buildplate, so I got all the same as yours I'd imagine. The last of the '06 ones came with an LSD I think. Mine was ex-fleet, but was virtualy new inside and out, with all teh Kms being Hightway ones. Plus had dark tint, new tyers, towbar, 6 stacker as well...

Cool. Yeah mine missed out on the 6 stacker, and I had darker tint added after purchase. I prefered the 5 speed auto with shift paddles though, and mainly because the missus had an old ankle injury preventing her from using a clutch. Still pretty quick off the mark.
The only real issue that I have had with mine is that the manifold cover wasn't screwed down properly as I found out after I bought it, which was causing uneven airflow during the cold start. Since fixing there, its been great.
