    Default Vehicle purchase and transfer

Just a quick Q folks, and this is for the Victorian members

Am I correct in assuming the following?

If I purchase a vehicle that has current registration, and I acquire a roadworthy certificate, VicRoads do not require to inspect the vehicle upon transfer of ownership?

    Thanks fellas

    Correct.

Date the sale of the car AFTER the date the roadworthy was issued. According to Vicroads its illegal to purchase a registered car without a roadworthy certificate, but only had that problem with them once.

We always do the same, only ONCE did they kick up a stink over it. We just changed the date and went back, and from now on I just date the transfer form the day or the day after the roadworthy and havent had a problem. Could just be the "lady" at our local Vicroads which has a problem with everything.

A registered vehicle must be sold with a Roadworthy Certificate. You can still transfer registration up to 3 months after it expires. After this time the registration will be cancelled.

    Seller’s responsibilities

provide the buyer with a Roadworthy Certificate that is no more than 30 days old when the sale takes place.
Thought Id double check what Im saying is right, since the lady at our Vicroads is worse then Hitler.

    Linky Goodness.

I'm going through that right now. Once you have submitted transfer papers, you have 28 days to get a RWC.
