yeah what i was told is that if they breatho you and give you the all clear, then you go down the road and stack your car they can get in big trouble.
just what i was told by a mate, so correct me if im wrong.
So i went out to town and had a couple of drinks..seeing how im on my P's and i need to be 0.0 i thought i would be good and go ask the coppers for a breathlyser test.
Apparantly unless its an RBT they can't do it because you could be 'on the rise' and the drinks may not have hit your system yet. He says you could be 0 here and then down the road you could be over..???? Anyone been told this?..I dont think the police are bad but it seems like a stupid rule they are enforcing. He said if youre in doubt just dont drive.
Soo i ended up waiting 20 mins and having a water then just leaving..Funnily enough i got pulled over for having no plates..5 mins later..had to explain the whole car been stolen story and they didnt even breathlyse me.

Unions: the people who brought you weekends
though i asked a copper out the front of a club for a breatho since i only had 2 beers all night and they did it for me. i was still over so i didnt drive, if the copper wasnt there i probably would have just driven and possibly got caught.

s14 of the Road Transport (safety and traffic management)Act (NSW) empowers police to breath test all drivers, suspected drivers and attempted drivers
police are also supposed to prevent offences and if they suspect that you are over, (eg they test you) and you are about to drive, they'll arrest you under the Law Enforcement (Powers and Responsibilities) Act (NSW) s99(1), s99(3)
Yep, they aren't too bad just after they get recalibrated but for the most part they are just used to see who can blow the highest reading so they soon become about as accurate as the tyre pressure gauges at servos
We got a hand-held one (supposed to meet all Australian Standards, etc and be accurate to +/- .01) at the venue I work at so any concerned patrons could see if they would be better to cab it home but after one of us blew .02 on it after consuming a can of Red Bull we decided to not advertise the fact we had it as obviously it wasn't quite right....![]()
