Sorry to disappoint you, but the planets will not align in 2012, and not in anyone living's lifetime either (we're trillions of trillions of years away from the next perfect alignment, and long before that happens the sun will explode and gobble up the whole solar system anyway lol).
Even if they did, at best it would just cause a solar eclipse which happens all the time.

But yeah, it is funny to watch people get worried about it, just like y2k

Mayan calender says 2012 is when we fail

The Mayan calender hasn't been used in at least 600 years anyway so having it run up to 2012 was overkill and more than they ever needed. If I was making a calander now I wouldn't see much point in it running past 2500. I can't see anyone making it that far, but 2012 wont be a problem
