And if that was the case ^^ turn the key one more time and OMG, MAGIC! the engine magically springs to life!
I'd leave the keys in it and put the shifter in reverse. See if they can work out why it wont start haha

Man my VN has been in the front yard with the key in it and unlocked for 3 years and no one took it off my hands . But I have a trick in that as soon as it reaches operating temp it looses spark, so they will have to fix it before they get far :P

How is that possible? You must live on a really remote farm or something lol.

I thought VN's were irresistable and extend you're life like that ring in that heaps cool movie.

Your car has probably been stolen about 30 times - they've gotten up the road, lost spark and pushed it back thinking its a dud.

And they obviously had no clue what they were doing. Who would cut the ignition wires? Thats just making more work for yourself. The ignition switch is only plastic and held in by two small screws... You could probably break it off by hand!

If they diddnt figure that out, then theres no hope of them getting past the steering lock lol douche bags.
LOL, steering lock is actually easier than ignition, there's a really easy and quick trick to them. Although i am basing this off a VE ute which my mate owned before it got stolen. Hotwired and Steering lock defeated in less than 30 seconds. :P

awwww c'mon that thread was very popular! i think it even covered apostrophe use in plurals as well as the old i before e rule. (thieves).

Sucks to be a fail thief though, regardless of how you misspell it.

Not sure on a VE, but when I had to remove my steering lock the only way was to remove the shear pin. Which usually involves removing the steering column and drilling it out, but I managed to undo it with needle nose pliers but took me about 15mins. Fiddly little sucker lol.

Or the alternative is to remove the barrel. But you need the key to be "on" in order to do that. Unless you have uber lock picking skillz.

But maybe theres also another way? Ive heard of breaking the lock by forcing the steering wheel, but I fail to see how that would work without destroying the column shaft and rendering it useless. The lock bolt looks pretty solid to me.

Well yea, i'm not exactly going to say how to do steal a car, especially in such a public place. But it is possible for someone who knows what they're doing to from the time it takes to break a window on a VE ute to be driving away within 20 seconds. With alarm activated and steering locked. ne incident was even caught on security cameras in crown's carpark.

I thought about it some more last night -

I realised they have taken the cover off my interior light in order to rip the globes out so no one would see them 'hot wiring' the car. But this little move rendered them blind in the darkness.

I realised that maybe there were documents in the car that specified my address, so they could come back to finish the try finish the job.

But judging by the previous handywork i have seen, I don't think I'm at risk.

    Ah well.....

Yay thread dig!!!!! No, no i'm pretty sure you were right the first time. I had heard the stories just after getting my VN so i had a security system put in that incorporated both the boot and bonnet. And if they get past that and the club lock they then have to deal with me. And why would you steal a VN anyway, coppers love them.

This thread is coming back to life lol.

    UPDATE:
Some one broke the rear drivers side door quater window and didnt take anything - just broke it.
Its been a couple of months and ive cut out a perfect plexi glass replica of my window and silicon'd it on haha.
No other break-in attempts have occurred as far as I know and no water leaks
Took it off the other day to re-silicon it. havent done it yet though.
