fail theifs are fail
Hey,
My VN has been at my grandma's house for the last couple of months cos it ran outta rego and i just couldnt be bothered registering it and getting a mate to drive it home for me etc (i have no licence currently).
It got broken into the other night (bad area) so i went to check it out the next day.
They have come in through the boot, pulled my steering column bottom cover off, and cut the plug off that goes to the ignition barrel. They have attempted to hot-wire the car and failed so they left and took the face off my head unit.
The thing is - My spare keys for the car were sitting in the centre console the whole time.
Unbelievable?.....Believe it!

TVR-190: That LSD service paid off. Stato just got very sideways.
Grennan: In a stato, the term is held starboard.
That's fantastic, you got quite lucky.
They're obviously not smart enough for a real job.
Yeah,
Seeing that definently took the sting outta having my car broken into and put a smile on my face.

Had a couple cars attacked at the Uni village too. Sucks mate, but at least it's still there

The VZ is here! About time!
I heard there's some sort of 'gang' going around doing it.
Real winners hey - took off with the face of my cd player but left my $120 leatherman there (with which they coulda stripped the ignition wires and started the car if they didnt see the spare keys sitting there in the centre console)

Hate hearing things like this.
I also got a VN sitting at the front of the house, bad neighbour hood and i realy dont trust it there.
Just a matter of time.
Im also curious how they got into the boot.
hilarious...................
The boot lock is a little 'jiggly' or loose, that might have helped them.
They got into the boot somehow then just came through the middle seat.
They had all night to do it (the house it was at is my great grandma's, shes 88, she didnt hear a thing lol) but still somehow didn't take the car or anything of real value.
All i can think of is that someone scared them off of something?

I always feel nervous when I park my car overnight in Whyalla, now I've got a reason to be, lol.
A mate of mine used to have a V-Hell berlina (5.0, gotta love it, but that doesn't really matter), he used to leave it unlocked all the time because he was pretty relaxed like that. It had the two-stage centre console where you can open the lid, or open the lower part. One night we were in Whyalla at the Eyre, we come outside and his interior light is on... We jump in the car and the top part of the centre console had been ransacked, someone stole the electric cigarette lighter, a photo of a friend of ours, and a box of matches. They left everything else untouched, it's funny because down in the bottom section, there was a 10 pack of retail CDs, my mate's wallet (filled with cash, he only brought a 50 into the pub with him), and the spare key for the car...
Same people maybe? Hehe...
Check out my VP right 'ere!
^ ^ ^ Haha reminds me of my old neighbours.
They had there car locked and parked in there shed also locked. One night they woke up to find someone had broken into the shed, then broken into the car, everything was still there including tools, money, cd's and a laptop, yet the cigarette lighter was missing, WTF.
Break into a car and take what you want i guess? That's why you occasionally see VR-VX's sitting in shopping center car parks with quarter panel indicators missing.
Depends where you park it. East side (near the beach) its fine. I live on the east side and can be as casual as i want with locks etc cos there is almost no chance of stuff like this happening. As you move further west though (where my car was when these clever guys tried to take it) you have to be more protective.
Yeah, I guess you just take what you want, easier to hide a cigarette lighter, CD or an indicator than an entire car.

Hold on - The eyre is on the east side.
Your story is outside a pub - that doesnt fit into my 'safety on the eastside' theory. lol

You'd have to think to yourself if its been sitting there for that long there must be something wrong with it or it doesnt run...or at the very least the battery would be flat....Idiots.
Probably kids.
"If you're going through hell, keep going"
they obviously didnt no wat they were doin strippn wires and brakin steerin column theres 1 part u need from the interior to start a vn and vn vp bootlocks if u stick a screwdrivr behind it pull it out a lil an turn it i think right voila opens(lockd myself out of my vp first day i bort it lol)
Bwahahahaha, gold!
But now you probably shouldn't leave your spare keys in your console.

And they obviously had no clue what they were doing. Who would cut the ignition wires? Thats just making more work for yourself. The ignition switch is only plastic and held in by two small screws... You could probably break it off by hand!
If they diddnt figure that out, then theres no hope of them getting past the steering lock lol douche bags.
