    Default Living In Australia

People, I have a question for you all...

I have been offered a job working just out of West Wyalong and I wonder if anyone here has lived there and could give me a perspective of what the town is like.

(For those of you who don't know, it is about 450k's west of Sydney)

Now I don't need all the negative comments unless of course there is a serious reason for it.

It is a very good job so I have to consider it from all angles I suppose.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Thanks guys, I am moving from Hervey Bay Qld. I have just returned from a years stint in a little country called Armenia. That was a real eye opener, beautiful place but very poor and still set in its Russian/Soviet culture. Going to work at Lake Cowal in the mine there.

I have worked all over Australia in small and large towns so this will be nothing too new but I like to try to be prepared. I am going to visit soon before I accept the job.

It will be the same as any other mining oriented town.

As long as you love your footy, drive a V8 and drink a lot of piss you will fit in.

What are you going to be doing at the mine?

I love Australian Country Living full stop. the locals attitude is very laid back, no matter where you go. if you happen to be raising a family, country living is beyond price.

When country people are rowdy they are EXTREMELY F**CKING ROWDY and when they are quiet they are dead silent. For entertainment you have drinking and sex. Think about that for a minute :P

And circle work, bike riding, hunting, camping etc. Id be off like a shot from the big smoke if I had work in the country.

On a similair vein - this country was built on the sheeps back. Support Primary Industry !

Hervey bay rocks. grew up in Maryborough, spending time between Mundubbera and Maryborough. My uncle had a little beach shack at gattakers bay. Was awesome when I was young. Even got to meet a few now famous locals - Danni Minogue and I used to go swimming at torquay. Unfortunatley, the Bay is starting to become very commercial...

I totally agree with all you have said, I love the bush. And you are right in saying Hervey Bay has commercialized but I will have made my money from my house on that front so no problems...

Yes I speak very basic Russian, good Swedish and basic German. I dont really think that speaking those tongues have done much good here in Australia but in Europe it helps immensly.

Horosho ya nashol s kemto po ruski boltat! Ya v Rossii rodilsya.

True different languages in Australia are not as useful as in Europe.
