probably a stupid question...but... i dont know much about the Ve's suspension...
obviously..the main thing is... why wouldnt they be.... cause VT was standard IRS on every model so im guessing these would be
Yes, all VEs are IRS...the last Commodore that was offered with a live axle was the VS:
http://www.users.on.net/~nweber/comm.../vs-specs.html
VT onwards was only offered with IRS.
As said above, all VE's are IRS. The VT onwards had IRS as standard. Useful link below;
Unofficial Holden Commodore Archive
The VE uses a full proper IRS, the VP-VZ uses the same system as the early VW's and BMW setup is a bit limited
the vt-vz had semi-trailing arm irs which as greenfoam said if a bit limiting, hence why they had camber and toe issues, the VE uses multilink rear suspension so it has less bugs with it eg toe and camber, its only drawback is it is more expensive to manufacture and design Multi-link suspension - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm sorry, but that question is just stupid.
Firstly, if you like Commodores enough to be on a forum for them then the answer to that question should be common knowledge.
And secondly, i googled that and came up with an answer in literally 5 seconds.
Yep, VE is IRS.
VT - VZ is IRS also, but as someone pointed out... its a fairly primative IRS setup.
For example, the VT - VZ Commodore has the same IRS setups as my 1989 BMW.
Steery,
Ease off mate... everyone has to learn from somewhere. He obviously trusts the knowledge of members on here and why wouldn't he ask a question about commodores on a commodore forum?
But I guess you know everything about commodores since your on this forum and you have never asked a basic question in your life that others considered stupid or common knowledge.
Cheers.
no question is a stupid question. the only way you learn is to ask. lets lighten up and help each other out![]()
As already said, VE's are IRS, but I thought I'd just clarify that not ALL VT -VZ were IRS. Crewmans and Tonners were live axle.
just to stick my two cents in at Steery; ease up mate. if you're a know-it-all that's great. Some people actually have the backbone to ask, even if it seems "silly". And the fact it was asked here instead of google makes no difference.
The only stupid question is the one you don't ask...
What's that saying? There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers?
Have you been reading some threads in this forum for long.? There have been many threads shut down due to stupid questions. There are limits to what needs to be asked and whether or not a 10 second search on this forum or on the web will find without making a new thread. Im not saying that this question wasn't valid though. Its a decent question to ask if you are unsure.
Have you not read posts where people's first post asks a question that goes like this;
'Just bought a VZ mate and wanna know why it won't do a skid. What can I do to make it do a fully sick skid'
Now I don't care whether people think they should do skids or not. But that is just a stupid question. There are many stupid questions. Im not saying that this one is stupid. But if you look at the profile of the original poster, he obviously gets bored throughout the day and late and night and asks several little questions consistently.
Im all for helping out people. Thats why I post in their thread with an answer. I may also give them some advice on searching first or where and how to search, but I still 99% of the time give my answer from my experiences.
But sometimes, people have to help themselves first, before engaging the world with their thoughts going through their head.
@ HoldenOnn: There's nothing in your statement i'm in disagreement with. I can assure you that there are actually silly questions; "i just bought a VS v6 and I want LS1 power, can anyone suggest an almost free way to do so? I just bought a pod filter, that helps unlock 100rwkw, but i still need more. ect ect"
And i'm sure it's obvious i'm not a veteran around here, but yes i do see plenty of what you're talking about.
My point here is that it seemed like a pretty genuine question, and despite the OP's post history, I couldn't see any justification for Steery's response.
I guess the difference is a genuine question that may be common knowledge for others could never be stupid, you gotta learn somehow. But yeah, there's a line...
ok mate, sorry. I wasn't sure what you meant, or how to take it, so was just clarifying.
It's too easy to get flamed around here for not knowing the EXACT specs, or going with the majority vote...![]()
