Hi
Just wandering what the law is on the following:
I am on my green P plates and dont have a manual license.
My best mate is on his full license, has lost his license before and has a interlock in his car.
Can I legally drive a V8 thats a manual if I put L plates up?
Apparently you have to put "driver under instruction plates", thats what VicRoads say apparently.
Just because I am thinking of buying a car from another state and want to know if I can legally drive it back.
If you put L plates up... Are you a moron... Or did I just miss what you are on about.
If you do not have your Manual license an you get caught, You get bent over. V8 on green P's should be fine, I've had two 5ltrs on Green P's.

Its a GEN III, not a 5 litre so can't legally drive it
Go reapply to sit for your manual license if you only have an auto license. Then you will be fine. If you have an auto license on your P's here in Vic, you can only drive auto, if you have manual, you can drive both as far as i am aware.

if its illegal there to drive a v8 on your p's why would they let a supposed un experienced driver on his learners drive one, maybe you have a full licensed driver in the car but he aint in control of the car is he.
Oh he has to have had his full license for 2 and a half years before he can take a learner driver out legally so that prob farks up your plan too
Putting L's up on your p's is stupid cause if you get pulled over cause L's on a high powered car and find out that your actually on your p's you better have a big bottle of lube in ya console waiting and be good at sucking dick hahahahaha
Speed never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, now that's what gets you...
you can drive a V8 on you L's as the responsibility is on the full licensed driver. Putting L's up on your P's will only get you in trouble as you are not correctly stating you license status.
Nah, pretty sure you can drive a V8 on your L's down here.
Seen heaps of L platers in LS1's with their dad's etc.

I know in NSW that if you have a P2 (green P's) auto licence you can legally drive a manual vehicle if you have a fully licenced passenger. (like on your L's) but not sure about driving a V8 though.

The NSW laws suggest that even if you had an auto license on red P's, once you moved to green P's you could drive manual. Not only that, but my green P license has nothing on it that says i can only drive auto. The Red P did.
Yeah, but we are talking about Victoria, not NSW.

As for the V8 that would be a negative...your current license doesnt permit you to drive anything over 200kw, super/turbo charged or a rotary over so many CC's. And if you were to drive it and crash insurance would not cover it due to your license class..(i know this seems backwards if you think your a learner in a manual V8..but you already have your auto license..so will not permit you to drive it unless of course your parents/immediate family are in the car, and all transport companies are backwards in the first place)
If the V8 is for you, you wont be able to insure/register or anything in your name due to age and license restrictions anyway..dont worry ive tried getting around it and i couldnt so i opted for a v6 for 3 years.
