Just wondering how many people have had parking tickets that were given in error?
I parked in a spot today and a Moreland Council parking inspector (inspector number will be hidden for now) booked me. He saw me pull into the spot, drove off and came back around 20 minutes later to fine me. I was fined for parking in a Loading Zone. Nice $117 fine, but i did some research and according to Victorian, NSW and SA Road Rules (Rule 179), section 4 of this rule states that "A loading zone is a length of a road to which a loading zone sign applies.". There was no such sign displayed anywhere along the stretch of road there and i have never seen a loading zone sign there in the past 2 years i've been driving and parking there or nearby.
So has anyone else recieved a ticket in error?
no......................
Sure you were'nt parked sideways again? lol
Nah if theres no sign or road markings then you can have it dealt with in court.
If its genuinely wrong on their part, take a photo of where you were parked, showing the lack of signs and write into the council. Heaps of people get off parking fines

Wastn't sideways, if i was i would've lost half of my vehicle to passing traffic.
Planning on writing to the council first before court.
Yea, took quite a few photos, moved my car too to take a picture of the ground to prove nothing was under the vehicle. Just a bit pissed off that i have to waste my time with writing a letter to fix their inspector's mistake! I havnt' had much experience appealing parking tickets as the other times i've been in the wrong.
A girl I used to live with must have gotten off at least 1 fine a month and every single time it was her fault, so it can't be too hard.

I copped a wrong parking ticket a few months back,
It was a no standing zone between the times of 2.30pm-3.00pm...
my parking fine said 3.28pm.
Im currently in the process of fighting it, i sent them pics of the sign and location and it "wasnt enough evidence" So now im taking them to court!
lol i got 9 parking fines within the first year of having my licence.. WOO city living!!!
Ive copped heaaappsss since then too...
Ive got one because the nose (and i mean the nose, as in about 4 or 5cms) was over the line (into a no stnading zone) even though my tow bar was touching my dads numberplate (he was parked behind me)
Ive got one for not buying a ticket... but the thing was, it wasnt signed that it was a ticket area (the only signs were down the road, and also positioned for cars parked 90degrees, i was in a 45degree parking spot - that almost made sense to me :/ < result of 4 hours sleep + exams)
ive also paid for a ticket once, but didnt take the ticket out of the machine when i walked off, and came back to the car an hour later and had a ticket
i always see the parking officers park in keep clear and no standing zones though.. bastards
ohhh.. also, i got a ticket once for parking in a permit zone.... thing is.. i have a permitthey said my permit wasnt visable... its stuck on the window ontop of my rego sticker.. i ended up getting off that one though
good luck appealing it.. its a pain in the ass, and its easier to argue your way out of a criminal offence![]()
haha thats what i like to hear!! might as well try n fight it, and the satisfaction youll get if you do get out of it, pwoahhh
this thread reminds me that i havent gotten a parking fine in a while now.. might have to forget to pay for parking at uni tomorrow.. ima parking fine junkie, what can i say, its a rushhaha
Got a ticket because of a faulty parking meter. Put in 1 dollar which gave me 1 hour. Came back 30 minutes later and had a ticket, meter said it had expired. Took it to council and they threw it out.
That has never happened to me but I did once work with a guy who would just remove the offending sticker and put it on the next car's windscreen. He reckons he got away with it often but I somehow have my doubts....

I almost got a ticket for dropping a teacher off at a school once. The sign said "No Parking", I stopped, he got out, then I carried on. A parking inspector was just up the road and he pulled me over. He tried to give me a ticket for illegal parking, my argument was that I never parked, I stopped. If the sign had said "No Stopping" he would have been within his rights to give me a ticket. The fact that I never turned the car off or got out did not constitute "Parking", only stopping. He said he didn't have time to argue and told me not to do it again.
never got one, but a mate of mine got ticketed for parking in a no standing zone. the sign was covered in paint and unreadable. he appealed and went down there and took photos of it, but later when he got there it had been cleaned up/ replaced.
pow3rslave; I know people who get parking fines, return and spray paint the sign, take a photo and yell at the council that they couldn't see it. And get off!
Reaper; Also heard of that... Don't know anyone who's actually done it or gotten away with it.
Thank christ i live in the country, I've virtually never had to pay attention to parking regulations... It'll probably prove problematic when I'm around the city, because occasionally i run back to my car thinking "Oh s*** what did that sign say???"
I recieved a parking ticket years ago for parking in a loading zone....when I was unloading a vehicle. I had the rear hatch of a wagon open and there was a line of people unloading boxes out of it....I got ticketed because my hazards were not going. Apparently the council by-law required hazards to be flashing when unloading. I spoke to my council about it and I apologised for my mistake and that I was unaware but I felt it was unjust I still recieve the ticket because the inspector had to hold a box for me as I reached into switch on my hazards. So he obviously knew that I was unloading.
The fine still stayed but they reduced it from 138 down to 25. I was happy with that. I still broke the law....sort of.
You put you left foot in, your put your right foot in , you take your left foot out and you slide it all about!
I put 10c in a parking meter, & it failed to register. I then put another 10c in & the same thing happened.
So i thought....what are ya gunna do?
When i came out of the shop, the parking inspector was sticking the ticket under my wipers.
I tried to explain what was going on, i even stuck another 10c in the fkn meter to show him. But he had already issued the ticket & couldn't give a damn!
So i stormed into the council building, & spoke to the service girlie. I had to fill out a form explaining the circumstances. They tested the meter & found it to be faulty, so they waived the ticket.
So just for wasting 30mins of my time, i demanded my 20c back. & i got it! hehehe
I've had a few when my car has been 'sighted' by an inspector over the other side of the city while it's safely parked in the secure car park at work at least 25 kilometres away
Never had a really decent apology from them when I write in and say I can prove beyond doubt my car never moved all day
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
i dont think our town even has a parking inspector
