    Default every 165KW motor isn't a 185KW motor!!!!!!

    Is it just me or does every one that has a injected 5LTR tell you it's a 185KW motor when it's just a standard 165KW motor!!!!!!

    I have never seen this. HSV 5ltr's had 185i motors with knock sensors? standard EFI 5's only had 165... unless they're trying to tell you its had a transplant or it's been chipped.

    Well at least know i have proof if they try again!!! Every time you see one advertised or talk to someone they tell you it's got the hsv 185KW motor or it's got one of those eBay badges-

    yeah, but unless it was a stato, clubby or maloo, it wouldnt have had the 185i anyway. What I mean is, if you see that plate on an exec, you would know its fake anyway...

    You only need to fit extractors and HSV exhaust, a CAI, buy the 185kw memcal from Holden and fit the knock sensor kit and you have yourself an instant 185kw package. Non factory 185 of course.

    You couldn't be more incorrect. ANY model could be enhanced, so infact you could have a VR Exec with the 185 option (but yes, it is the same motor as every other VN-S V8 [non stroker] with the extra's mentioned above)


    I couldn't stop laughing when a certain person put a HSV 'motor' in their car, but didn't put the exhaust/cai/knock sensor in, and claimed it was a 185 motor....haha

    Your right, it would be more. An aftermarket exhaust would have the 'rating' up around the 200 mark.

    The tunes that HSV put in them to make them 185 @ the fly from factory are shit anyway. Better off with a Foamy, Doctor Bon or Delcowizzard flash tune.

    not like it matters anyway. i have a 185 or 180kw motor (i forgot), it's the weakest piece of shit i have ever driven. i don't even know what's wrong with it now. it feels my mums hyundai.

    What's that got to do with it being a 180kw motor? Your engine could be rooted, hence why it feels like shit to drive.

    Every car you buy now days has a:

    Worked Auto
    Chipped
    High Stall
    Stage 2 Shift Kit
    Extractors

    I remember taking a statesman for a drive and i was told it had all of that, It was the stock stally, no chirp into 2nd (the shift wasnt even firm) and it had the stock headers on it.

    Its just the generic bullshit list for idiots.

    35 made with the 215i engine $73,500 new

    haha that's what i mean, anyone can say the car they are selling has got a 185kw engine but depending on the condition a tuned 165 could be better anyway.

    Oh lol, sorry i read your post a different way.

    Mine is a 185. Got a Foamy tune in it, felt HEAPS better, had it dyno tuned, picked up more torque and a tiny bit more power and ran even better still.

    Unless you are wanting to keep your HSV (for example) 100% original in every way, get yourself a flash tune (a decent one).

    can't argue with that, but it's still slow on petrol too. and that's not the ring's fault, it's ok at high rpm, down low is where it sucks bad where the ring's restriction wouldn't make a difference! anyway wrong thread for this, i should probably do some searching to see if i can figure out what the problem is

    Stop right there, in fact 185kw executives were done do some searching. basicly any car can be enhanced by HSV if you have the $$$. special orders etc............................................... .................................................. ........ just check for CAI + headers (that do nothing aparently).

    185KW hah, its lack luster compaired to what you can achieve aftermarket.
