just had my bike "tuned" by the local bike shop. I noticed on the reciept it had something about burning oil out of my muffler - i stripped it down to see what that meant...
I've never seen the insides before, but i do see balls of melted fibreglass so i'd say that's not good.
Can i just replace that stuff with normal pink bat fibreglass insulation?

Just looks old and in need of replacing.
Bike shops sell proper packing its not that expensive.
wow that look pretty...mega burnage!!!
as for replacing it with normal pink bat stuff, not a good idea as that stuff can be flamable at a certain temp, and since its in the muffler it would reach hi temps pretty quick...myabe go to a bike joint and ask if they have any, or buy a cheap muffler for a bike off ebay and change the inner parts over...

well there you go i didn't know you could buy new exhaust packing - i'll have to check it out in tamworth tomorrow. Thanks fella's!
would it not be worth it to speak to the bike shop?
nah, they're a bunch of idiots down there. I took a motor to them last year to have the flywheel pulled off - when i showed it to them the mechanic said "it hasn't got a flywheel" so i proceeded to turn the motor around and show them where it was....
because there's only one motorbike shop for about 100km's? Even though they have little idea about motorbikes, they know a bit more about jetting them than i do.
