Default Should I buy a new car?

I've had my license for just over 2 years now, and for the last 18 months I've been driving around in my trusty old VC. Its been a great car, only had a few minor issues that I could fix myself. Unfortunately its looking a bit worse for wear, its been parked outside for most of the last ten years at least, so the paint is pretty f***ed. Its certainly never going to get me laid.
I still love the car to bits, and I have no intention getting rid of her, but at the moment I'm sick of driving an auto and with the weather starting to warm up already I'd like working air con. I've seen a few 5 speed vt's for sale for pretty reasonable money, and I think one of them would suit me fine. The trouble is that I'm also very keen on having a V8, but the p plates say I can't. Should I buy a V6 now, or stick it out for another year until I'm allowed to have a V8? I have a vk project car as well, but its not going to be finished any time soon.
So anyhow, if anyone here has some advice for me I'd sure be glad to hear it. Cheers

    aaahh ok....

Anyhow, i'd say keep driving the VC and when you get of your P plates you can by a really nice car, it'll be worth the wait.

jakbob - mate get the car you want. You won't be pleased with something less and it's a lot of money to spend unless you get exactly what you want.

Save your arse off, sell the VK, keep your old and faithful, put the money from the VK in a fixed term deposit.

Never worry about a chick who won't get in your car because if they don't like you then that's there f---i- problem.

Save mate, get that v8 and as the old saying goes: "All comes to those who wait".

couldnt have said it better myself mate...if u think the VC will do another 12 month stint..then do it and hold out for the V8..will make you even happier when you get it becuase if u get the 6 in 12 months you will be asking yourself why?..save as hard as you can so when u do get it you can do the things you want to it

If I was you I'd stick it out and wait till you were off your ps and get what you really want.

And besides, if a chick gets with you solely because of your car, It's probably the sort you would get diseases from.

i was sick of my vn v6, bought a vp v8, and i'm no happier with the vp than i was with the vn. and i've got 7.5k less in the bank. sure vc to vt sounds great but yeah you'll get sick of the vt, it's nothing special. and it's only a six, that's worse than my 'upgrade'! just stick it out

Mate i had a vl sl no nothing, i drove it through my L's, reds and half my greens, i loved that thing and when summer came round i'd just take a spray bottle of water and spray my face with it or spray out the window and let it blow in lol.

Yeah, I'm not really worried about the car not getting chicks for me, there are bigger issues at play there, like my severe lack of social skills.
I'm keen on keeping the vk - its going slowly but I want to finish what I started. And eventually down the track I would really like to drop an ls2 in the vc. I guess I'll probably keep driving the vc for now, and buy a cheap v8 when I get my opens. I'll just have to find someone who can fix the air con in the vc for cheap. I got it fixed once before and it lasted about 3 weeks. Must be a big leak in there somewhere.
The real problem is that I love cars too much. If I had my way I'd have acres and acres of cars.

I must be a girl then. Nothing worse than being stuck in brisbane traffic in a hot car, with the windows down, breathing in all the lovely fumes. I couldn't be bothered ripping it out and if its going to be there then it might as well work.

Wait 1 year and get the V8, then wait 10 years and watch all the desperate late 20
s and 30 year old girls bash your door down . Girls looks last less time then a VC outside in the rain and they soon change their level of fussyness once they have to compete with the latest model

So this thread got me thinking about my cars air conditioning, so I decided I'd go and look in the car air con section, and, lo and behold, its gone! So at risk of asking a stupid question thats already been asked a hundred times, what happened to the car air con section?
