Ive been told those carpet claeners you hire from the supermarkets work well in cars. its about $35-$40 to hire them which is ok. Just wanting to know if any of you have tried them?
Never tryed them on the car but for the house they do the job well but leave the carpet a bit wet so might take a while to dry in the car
Yea, i dont need it for the house as my dad owns a carpet cleaning buisness. He has the equipment and the know how to do the car, but his machine for the cars is broken. How long did it take to dry in the house?
YES! They are awesome. My interior was absolutely filthy when I bought the car. I hired one of them cleaners from safeway and did the WHOLE interior - front and back seats, carpet, boot carpet, roof lining. I had the interior stripped out at the time so it made things easier but the results were amazing. At first you may not think its doing much but once the water starts to soak in a bit you will notice a difference. I went over the lot once and then a second time because its had time to soak a bit. Interior now smells amazing too.![]()
so it takes away smells too? even better, The precious owner of my car was a smoker, and it still smells a bit, hopefully this will fix it. might have to go hire one tomorrow![]()
Previous owner was a smoker too. Now you wouldnt pick it.It sort of a 'sweet' clean smell. A mate rekons it smells too clean like his grandmas car haha
How much did u pay to hire it? A clean grandma smell would be better than the current musty Dog+Ciggarette smell. From what i can gather, the previous owner smoked and took their dog everywhere. took me a long time to get all the dog hair out.
$30-40 from memory. My mum still had some of the cleaning stuff left from when she did the carpet last but thats only about $25 for the two bottles which will last you a while.
ok, i will prob just use my dads stuff he used for his buisness, so i wont have to worry about that!
Im sure it was a good 3 hours befor it was dry but after seeing azzfox post I might give it a crack as a mate spilt jim and coke under my seat and and seats are dirty as
My Mum bought one of those cleaners for about $400....and it works great! She loves it! Think it's a Bissell. We've had a few oil stains in the back seat of our Pajero (from us getting in after working on cars and forgetting to clean off), and nothing got them out, but this new machine got them out no worries!

I've used them heaps of times on my old cars and my mates cars (and will be doing my car very soon). Get the Rugdoctor unit over the Britech (or Birtech? - cant remember spelling). Never used the Britech one but the Rugdoctor looks like it has a better hand cleaner, which is what you use for the car. Also it might sound stupid, but this is the one time you should hose the interior of your car (literally). While im using the cleaner, i run the hose on a heavy mist setting and suck it up as i go, as the hand help unit doesn't push out much water. Don't drench your seats but wet them enough as you go and suck it up straight away or a few seconds later. Just wait till you see the amount of dirt that comes out of your seats![]()

Used one on the house carpet and it was ok but the pro's do a hell of a lot better job, or maybe i'm just crap at house cleaning!![]()

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
ive been meaning to do this for a while. I got a full set of Calais sets to go in, but they need a really good clean before they go in. The fella I got them off has a young kid who sat in the back, and never cared about cleaning up after him. I got them respectable with a hose, some truckwash, and a scrubing brush, but they need more work.
I'm going out to hire one of these this weekend now...
