Default Will Holden's new engines reverse the sales drop?

Well, Holden has high hopes for its new range of fuel efficient engines and with the release this month of the two new V6's, it obviously would like to see the slide in sales of
    Commodore reversed.

    Can it work?

Today's Sydney papers has an article about the large decrease in sales of large Holdens and Falcons this year. Commodore came second for the second month in a row, behind the Corolla. Jap and Korean cars are taking an increasing share of our new car market and Thai build cars are a close fourth. Will new fuel efficient engines help Holden pick up its sales or is it more than just the engines that is turning people to smaller cars?

The Cruze is selling faster than Holden can produce it, which is a good sign.

As for the new motor, it's meant to be pretty good, cant wait to get a drive in one to test it for myself. Time will tell.

Personally I think it may increase the sales but may take a little while to catch on. Some people dont like change. I would buy a new VE with the new V6 if I had the money. Altho I may be classed as a little biased because I like big cars. Doesnt help that Im 6'2" either.

The VE is now 3 years old. Too old. Sales always die off at the end of a model.

The new model will bring a sales surge for sure. The engine probably wont make that much difference. Most people dont even lift the bonnet on cars.

I would tend to say it will make **** all difference. Many people I know including myself are moving away fromt he big bulky commodores, they are just far too big for todays lifestyle. Holden need to produce something halfway between cruze and commodore size and it will sell a crapload. The Cruze is too small, commodore too big.

    Just my 2 cents.

So.... You mean something like the Toyota Aurion? I don't know about most other people here but we have a one year old son and when you combine a baby seat in the back, a high chair and a pram in the boot, there ain't a lot of space left over in a VS sedan if you want to go away. Absolutely no chance of fitting in the golf clubs! Certainly won't want anything smaller.

I like the increase in power and better fuel economy.
If there are other improvements as well I'd definitely look at buying a new car this FY.

    New V6
    Power
    3.6 - 210kW @ 6400rpm

    Torque:
    3.6 - 350Nm @ 2900rpm
Between 9 and 13 per cent fuel consumption improvement

    Superceded V6
    3.6-litre

    Power:
    175kW @ 6500rpm
    HF 195kW @ 6500rpm
    Torque:
    325Nm @ 2400rpm
    HF 340Nm @ 2600rpm

When do children/babyseats and golf clubs ever go together?

Moral of this story, do not have children

for sure. that is one hot car.
the cruze is a nice car but too small as has already been said.
it just depends on what people like.
all people have to know about the engine is that its good for the environment.
thats all most people want to know.
