Just throught i'd throw up a thread for everyone to bitch, or just chat about study
Currently tryna get myself in the zone for an assignment, studying a diploma in systems engineering at tafe (course name has changed 100s of times).
Was meant to be a 6month diploma which has now gone on 2 and a half years, got told last week we're being moved so best i can hope for is to leave with two cert 2's that are going to be worth more then the new cert 4's..... work that out LOL
tafe - i cant believe its not an education
6 modules and 4 exams to go... red bull's flowing, and the stoner food is driving mates bitching at me on msn about their year 12 or uni/tafe assignments as well
god i want to cheat through this program assignment lol.. anyone else wanna contribute?
All I can really say is best of luck. I'm currently at uni, studying B.IT, this is actually my last term...exactly 22 days from now, I'll have finished my last exam...I just can't wait to get out of here, get a job, start earning money, move out of home, buy myself a Commodore, and have fun!![]()
I had 4 subjects this semester. My astronomy elective just finished bar 2 piss easy "assignments", and I just had the semesters major assignment cancelled since they finally figured out that anyone in my double degree hadn't finished a pre-req subject and therefore couldn't actually finish the project.
So essentially I'm down to 2.5 subjects for the rest of the year....uni isn't so bad anymore

lucky bastards lol... we got jacked around for around 2 years with tafe.... because the course is now being shunted they decided to help us finish it instead of cancelling classes after 2 weeks... so if i can actually finish with two cert 2's by dec 11.... however.... if i want to continue i have to go to regency and instead of being at cert4 where i have subjects ive already finished i move to cert 3 and study diploma level stuff work that out lol.
nah i think next year i qualify for mature age entry to uni (age 21) cos i didnt get a ter when i got my sace.... so thinking of hitting up uni next year for something..... dont know what yet tho i dont know what to do with my life.
I hear the law divison at UniSA have the most whack parties.
I'm finishing my honours project in electronic/computer engineering as we speak. Got to give a presentation in approx. 16 days. Right now however I feel that a side by side comparison of new vegemite vs old vegemite is much more important.
im studying an advanced diploma in computer systems engineering at broadmeadows.... its alright i spose pretty straight forward and it gives me an auto acceptence to do a degree at latrove when i finish![]()
I'm doin tafe atm, I got over a year left on my diploma of Electrical somthing(unsure what they call it now) but its the next step after a lecco's cert 3 trade course. Its a 2 year total thing but then im doin my advanced diploma which is another 2 years. Problem is i dont know if i can do it in wollongong i may have to go to sydney somwhere which sux.
The course im doin is in dissaray atm as it has all changed back at the start of this year and the boffins at the DET have yet to set a course structure so the teachers are just making it up for us as the subjects progress. Only now are some of the subjects starting to come with some structured programmme. Unfortunatly now though the teachers have done their best to make it up in previous subjects, but there is some stuff we have to go back now and revisit to again pass previous modules
Anyway the important thing is i will get a fairly easy entry to uni once this mess is all over.
I'm studying BIS at RMIT City Campus......not that I attend many classes![]()
Im in Psych Honours, wanting to get into Masters/Doctorate next year... 4 weeks until my thesis is duehappy days
I'm loving it at the moment, on 2 weeks holidays
Ahhhh same course that ill go straight into when I finish my diploma, easy?
Hahahaha I had that exact same problem at rmit, to lazy..... If only i went to class I would of been finished and in a job by now but instead i'm doing the same course at VU... Its funny how i done it at rmit and hated it but im at VU now and love it and on a 80-90+ average lol :P Weird how much you mature by taking a year off....
You just want to be called dr mike don't ya? btw hows foots park these days? still got the 10girls to 1 guy ratio? *jealousy*
One thing i love about uni/tafe is the clothes the chicks wear in summer, or should i say the lack of clothes![]()
loll yeahh, the ratio's still there hahaha, thats the best part of doin psych.
And is it sooooo bad to want to get personalised plates saying DRMIKE ? or maybe ... DRLOVE loll
I cant wait for summer! can not wait! those couple of warm days we had.. pwoaahhhh... so much for my thesis.. lol
VU is just an awesome awesome place to be haha
Associate Degree in Engineering. Still only my first year. What sucks the most is, being in a regional centre we have no real lectures/tutorials. We have a video conference with the lecturer for a single 3 hour block for each subject, covering lecture and tutorial in that time. Good luck trying to learn anything from it...
Due to work committments and the contract requirements, I'm only doing two subjects per sytudy period. Means in 7.5 years from now, I will have graduated! Oh joy

The VZ is here! About time!
I go to Regency TAFE and we have been jacked around for the whole year so far. Our course is ending and they doubled our work load in some subject to get them done b4 three lecturers retired today... 10 subjects at a time is way too many, especially when 3 of them are at double pace...
i did an advanced diploma of computer science at tafe, found it pretty easy, also found out that my 2 year course earned me 1.5 years credit on bachelor of computing at swinburne. currently doing that. i don't really rate uni, they give you some shitty lecture notes, bullshit assignments, and most of your time is spent on google working out how to do it. i'm paying $4000 a semester to learn shit off google. if i wanted to do this, all i needed was the topic, and i could have learnt it for free. at least i get a nice piece of paper at the end of it though that's worth $12,000.
tafe was much better because they actually teach you there. and it only cost $1000 a year. much better value for money.
You had a very different uni experience to me then. I got heaps out of it. There were bits that sucked pretty hard but in general i came out with what i went in to get.
Not sure that google was ever my first point of call... but i wasn't about to risk using bs info either so i found what i was after in journals most of the time.
Guess it depends on what you want out of it. I also had good practical sessions and even though most of it was rounds based (teaching) i majored in aquatic science/marine biology which kept it interesting at least.
Yep, I have to agree, my uni experience was also positive. I worked bloody hard and got a lot out of it. It helpped that the uni was one of the Major engineering unis in Aus.
As for google, well... that didn't really exist in '94
Mike
finished nearly 4 years ago. 4 year course.
may as well chip in here
i'm doing 'college' in canberra .. its year 11 and 12 but different to nsw & vic etc. basically its not compulsory. so there are no classes you have to do. its pretty much like uni, they dont care if you dont go they'll just kick you out of the class. no reminders for assignments all that sort of stuff.
its pretty shit.. learning alot but hard. on average, for a 9 week term i will get 3 bits of assessment per class, so i do 6 classes so i get 18 things to do in nine weeks plus school -- good fun.
soooooooooo... how did everyone go!?
I ended up getting First Class Honours(I think averaged about 83 or so for the year)
First class honours hey? Congrats. Now you can go straight into a PhD without stuffing around with a masters like I had to, before I was transferred on the phd program.
I'm now thinking about an MBA to give me the option of the management side of engineering/mining - would like to move into an executive/md role if I don't open my own consultancy.
I have every intention to make my time spent at uni pay off financially![]()
