Yep i agree with that statement.

As for the Rules it states if you buy a high power car before the law has passed you can get exemption to use the car if its the only one you have and need it to get to work and back.

Im sure there will be a clause with that as well.

Either way young people need to learn how to drive and concentrate before having powerfull cars.

its a silly rule because even a basic vl like mine can easily get to 200kph and get sideways if you wanted to so its a stupid law

i agree with all the above, its either inexperience, stupdity or bad luck that creates crashes, not cars. look at the v8 supercar drivers, they have crashes and they are seen to be some of the best drivers in the world!!

i think its about making the government look like they are doing something, if they really cared about our lives people that have been caught dragging etc are the only people who should be affected by these rules not everday joes that have a passion for their car....CORRUPTION and LAZINESS is what it all comes down to.

South Australian's are the MASTERS of getting pissed and rolling their car into someones front yard, they have been doing this for much longer than the time cars have been powerful . It's the attitude of the entire State that causes this (and I woudn't want to change it because South Australian are the only people in the Country (besides the NT) that still know what fun and risk vs fun is )

I had my bitch on the other thread in the pub section.

All I have to say is I hope it doesn't affect people that are already on their P's.

what i was trying to say is, its not the car its the driver, it is the responsibility of the driver to tell themself if they have the capability to drive a certain car. i wouldn't drive a lambo or a bugatti veyron on the streets simply because i couldnt handle it, and i hate to say it but neither would you or the next guy, and if you think you could thats where the problem lies. the bad driver should be punished not the majority of good guys...

I could handle either of those on the street. No problems, thats just how it is, your feet and hands control the car. Not the other way around. YOU could be more dangerous in a chirade than in the veyron, just depends how you drive it.

i look at it this way all these young drivers dying are they all driving v8s or high powered cars no i just think they are putting a bandaid on the problem every car can go over the speed limit and crash weather it be a 3 cylinder or a v12 engine it all depends on the drivers
i think they should make the age at least 17 even better 18 to get your licence and every new learner do the driving school to learn how to control the vehicle
more education is needed for new drivers and it shouldnt be so easy any one can sign a book and say they have done more hours than they have

my first car was a 4 litre V8... learnt to drive in it, ran it over a traffic island 3 days after getting my P's...

I now have a 3 litre, straight 6, twin turbo... and a VL...

I lost my license, speeding, in the VL, 106 in a 60 zone, country road, nice road to drive along...

anyway, I've had the turbo for 2.5 years now, maybe more... but I don't have a license anymore, and when I get it back, I go back to P1s (I was 4 weeks from getting my full license... *sigh*)

I have a strange feeling I'm not going to be allowed to drive my SAFE turbo car (air bag, ABS, good tyres, good brakes, etc) instead, I'm going to have to drive my crappy VL!!!!

    stupid, stupid laws!!

ah, I got done for speeding in the VL...

I've never had an accident since my first accident, 3 days after getting my Ps...

I had my license for over 3 years, I didn't bother learning to drive till I was 19...

banning turbo/V8 cars isn't going to stop people speeding in less powerful cars! just the less powerful cars don't handle as well, nor have as good brakes!

i think these laws are stupid, as already said it wont stop p platers speeding or killin themselves its how the vehicle is driven. not all p pl;aters r hoons not trying to make myself sound innocent bcos sometimes im not at all! but iv got a modern v8 which is fair quick but i learnt to drive in a friggin sigma and then a v6 then a v8 i worked my way up bcos of some other ppl crashin it ruins it and makes all p platers look inexperienced! iv got a hc class licence and i have on many occasions hauled 45ton earthmoving machines around adelaide and if im trained enough to be able to drive somethin liek that i dont see why i shjud be banned from a v8 car! i just think its ****ed and i needed to vent lol

pretty much what im trying to say, is if you were trying to outrun another car with a powerful car and you have little experience with powerful cars, as alot of young cocky drivers do, you will crash sooner or later thats the honesty of it, and i should have re phased my last comment, 9/10 people could drive a veyron through heavy city traffic. like most other people i drive to get to work and shops etc. and i dont think that i should have to suffer because of some young speedracer. they need to adjust and pick out the people that are actually breaking the rules.

build a bridge and get over it, we live in sa and we have stupid rules but at the end of the day if your gonna run you deserve to crash whatever you happen to drive.

and if you run they'll would've adjusted and pick out you the fool who runs for breaking the rules

i cant see it working, the road toll is only going up due to our increase in population you cant expect next to no deaths each year but its been great that in the past 15yrs the toll has moved only a little, just think how many more would hold a licence and that hasnt effected the toll as much as you think.
