Does anyone here know if you can use E10 ULP in a 4 stroke Briggs & Stratton lawn mower engine?
Dumb Question I know... Flame suit is on! LOL
how old is it? newer ones may be ok, if you have a manual it should tell you in there. i probably wouldn't use it in an older one, e10 tends to disintegrate hoses, seals etc.
can i ask why anyway? how much are you going to save, 10c per week?
since its ulp. i would have to say yes. but i dunno for sure.
Maunufacturer Ethanol E10 Fuel Warnings and Precautions.
That site seems to suggest that low blends such as e10 should be okish..
I allways run premium in the mower, just because the fuel often sit's there for a year and at the amount of fuel you use in one you may as well start with a higher octane. Like levy said the price difference will be messured in cents (per year I would say
)
Just use normal unleaded or premium as Greenfoam suggested.I have seen ethanol destroy internal parts from a carby on a brush cutter and i suspect it has ruined one of our Honda mowers. It died about the same time as the when the brushcutter got sick, and its the only one to die in over 10 yrs of using them.
just go for regular. ethel or premium isnt needed. E10 will kill it probably and premium will not be needes as its a mower. not a v8
When i bought my Briggs and Stratton powered mower I specifically asked if I could run E10 in it and they said it is highly advisable not to. So I havent. That was from a highly reguarded specialist.

It would be around ten years old now I think... I bought it new at a good price. I am not really worried about fuel price differences; I was just curious if E10 could be used. From what I have seen in responses here, Premium ULP is the way to go.
Thanks for the tips Guys and Gals![]()
Like 'lil bandit. SHE NEEDS PREMIUM DUDE, PREMIUMMMMM!!

I used to use just ordinary unleaded in my mower - for a good 10 years even - and then one day i decided to see what would happen if i ran some BP Ultimate in it.
If you've never done it - you should.
This thing has never ran so good in its life.
It revved harder, it ran better, it cut better, it was like it was on 'roids!
Being ran from an empty tank (filled from empty with Ultimate) the improvement was noticeable straight away.
I wouldnt bother with E10 either, not worth saving .03c a mow.
i tend to stay away from teh servo's, i go to the local airport instead and get jet fuel, yeh, havent seen that mower in a while...last i saw it was shooting off into the sky with a nice glow and me cut grass .
on a serious note..
just use normal unleaded that all we use, have use preium before but yeh its a mower lmao
yeah I run premium with an octane booster for that stubborn grass lmao.
but really I love my 2 stroke mower. chuck in any old unleaded fuel thats been lying around the shed with some premix and all good. or lately old 2 stroke mix thats been sitting in my bike for the past few months.![]()
