Well here is the story, on my 21st birthday the 31st of August this year i got whats called a spontaneous tension pneumothorax. Basically a punctured lung that happened for no reason lol ended up in hospital for 2 weeks with a chest tube sticking out my side, had to have surgery to fix the hole in my lung so now it looks like i have been stabbed in the side 4 times haha also got to have a ride in the RFDS plane.
So was kinda interested if this has happened to anyone else on here cause before it happened i had never of heard of it before but apparently it is pretty common in skinny blokes like me.
It was pretty surprising to me that it happened cause all my life i have been healthy as, only getting the occasional cold like everyone else, then i get this which could of killed me lol
that's terrible... how skinny are you? you've worried me now, i'm pretty skinny.
what did it feel like when it happened?
well it happened not long after i started work, basically getting a bit short of breath and bit of chest pain. i took the day off work hoping it might of gone away, next day was still the same so went to the doctors, they took an xray which showed the lung completely collapsed and was basically being forced into the middle of my chest where the heart is.
you need a bit of cushion for the pushin basically. lol.

sounds awful. I can't say I've ever had one.. but i'm sure I came close to a collapsed lung after a fart that went 20 seconds :|
It happened to a guy i worked with about 10 years ago . He was about the same age and he was skinny too . He is still skinny but it has never happened to him again . I'm worried about my son as he is skinny and has just turned 21.
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
this happens to my mate a fair bit told him he needs to fatten up
If its got Wheels or Boobs its gonna cost ya money
I'm skinny as...its ok though, I eat pizza and drink beer all the time so I'm protecting myself

i have heard about this, i did a bit of research on chest pains and stuff after i had similar stuff you described, some people ignore it and they die, some peoples lungs re inflate after a day or 3, which is what a doctor told me mine may have done i went to him a few weeks later for something unrelated n im like, so.... could this have happened? n he's like yeah its a possibility. bit scary that your lung can just decide to go on holiday.
here's the xray, basically there is only air on the left side where the lung is supposed to be lol the right side you can see the good lung which is basically that white looking area.
