    Default R.I.P My VT :(

    Hey Guys,

Was driving home from a Friends place yesterday when I hit an oil patch and the back end swung out. The road was to narrow and wet to bring it back, so into the clay wall i went. I managed to swing it so the front end went in and not the sides. I was only doing 40ks in the 60zone as i knew it was really wet and was going up a hill. Will post pictures when i get home. At a mates place at the moment as i had about 9 Jim Beams to help with it all last night

I would say its a complete write off Air bags went off, so they will need to be replaced, but from what i understand the whole interior dash needs to be replaced?

    Pics will be up soon

    Cheers

    Mumbo

That's tough man. I had a bingle in my VP on an oily road in the rain. Dead straight line, the car just rotated and left the road.

    Hope it's repairable

Thanks guys, Yeah I'm ok just a few cuts and red mark where the air bag hit me and also abit of Whip Lash. Morton yes that's excat same situation that happened to me. People have been saying you could of gotten out of it. Those people have no idea how bad the road was nor driven a rear wheel drive before.

Fat.36L I only got the 2.5" red back exhaust on it and that was it Going back out to where i got it towed to tomorrow to have another look and hope i can get it back here. Praying for the best that i can get it repaired Left my camera at my mates place, so pics will be coming tomorrow. Sorry for the delay

Drive to conditions people, pure and simple.

YES, a Commodore without ESP can be light in the tail, so can older Porsche 911's etc, - you compensate.
Purchase a hazard-warning triangle for your car to improve the warning given to approaching traffic at both crash scenes and vehicle breakdowns. Keep it in the boot. I suggest Hella Part Number 2901 - $70, OR http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/onl...215554#details. Accepted under AS3790. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/media...eSafePart4.pdf

Mate if you had any idea of what the road was like and the condition you would no one could of gotten out of the slide. Almost every car that was stopped then tried to take off was spinning the wheels trying to get some kind of traction. The Car is now back here and I will be stripping it for parts. There is a Statesmen next door that has just had the motor ceased up, so i might take the gearbox and motor out of the VT and put it into the Statesmen.

Keepleft why did you have to make a stupid comment like you did. I was the only one hurt and damaged. No one else was. I agree with FAT.36L you are a wanker!

Yeah well HWP didn't attend. I wasn't hurt badly, I was the only one involved and I'm not that stupid to have the cops called just because i totaled my car. You are right I' am always responsible as the driver, but when you car hits an oil spot in the wet then there is nothing you can do once it goes into that slide, not in the narrow street i was in anyways!

I understand where you are coming from however its not the rain on the roads rather the oil that caused an accident.

I love it how people can say "well no one else hit the oil" maybe because people take a different position on the roads with their vehicle especially when entering corners, The fact that you hit it firstand dispersed the oil slick or simply just sheer bloody luck (be it good or bad)

Neg driving charges for single person accidents are generally bullcrap and nothing but revenue raising.

You can be the best driver in the world and have situations that are out of your control but unless you can prove it was the fault of another party (RTA or another driver) it is negligent driving..... how is that not just revenue raising?

*sigh* looks like you can't post anything here any more without someone starting some sort of argument.

the main thing is that you're ok mumbo, that's all that matters. cars are replaceable, time to upgrade

I had a single person accident a couple months ago, & I got into a fair bit of drama with my insurance company, one of the things was because I didnt file a police report on the accident, like you I didnt think it was worth the police's time. However the insurance insisted I had to go in & file the report, & then get hit with a fine.

Thanks for everyone's concern. I now need to move on and start to strip the car and start selling it for parts. Back to the drawing board
