Default Thoughts on Hoon Driving Laws in South Australia.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Do you believe that the laws are doing their job and if they are not how do you think they can be fixed?

Has somebody you know been affected by the laws?

the laws are a very grey subject, nothing is clear about them.

they're working to a certain extent but there are a few unlucky people in the mix.

i haven't been effected by them but at the same time, don't do anything stupid and you'll be fine

i think they should enforce the laws they have now, like maybe have actual police on the streets. speeding/redlights is just one of the retarded/dangerous things i see and afaik the only one that cameras get.

all i can say is that there would be a lot less 'hooning' on public streets if there was somewhere to legally do it (besides mallala which is hours away)

I got warned for tailgating...old fart dobbed me in, officer knocked on my door.

So I asked what would he do if he was driving along and a driver was going from 80-20km/h up and down in a 60 zone and swerving across the road?

He laughed and said "lets just say the guy who dobbed you in no longer has a licence", then he made a chug chug gesture. He just said, he has to drop by and say something due to a report being made regardless of the situation...way to waste police resources...

if he hadnt reported it to the cops he wouldnt have been caught, im assuming thats when they got him. also i would this tailgating would be the last thing id do if a person in front of me was driving like that.

Welcome to the rest of the country SA is just moving thier laws inline with everywhere else, which can only be a good thing. Hell if everyone gets their laws the same people might have a chance of being able to drive from Melbourne to Brisbane without the laws changing 3 times

The hoon laws havn't stoped hoon driving here. If anything i think the hoon drivers are now more dangerous because they are now more inclined to try to outrun the police. There seem to be more cases of cars being stolen and used to outrun the police and then dumped with the driver doing a runner.
The only way to stop hoon drivers would be to lock them up because taking their licences off them and crushing their cars doesn't seem to stop them from driving on our roads.

i agree there should be one set of road rules for the whole country not individual states.

6 posts before someone brings up that argument again. If there were more legalised brothels around would that stop rapes! A track will only be good for some guys but these brain dead guys that keep making the news will act like dicks on the road anyway and these guys are the ones that are forcing the governments bring in these stupid laws to appease the general public.

i dont give a **** about the racetrack.

its just a gov crackdown on p platers. stop picking on them. there are tons of hoons atm getting regressed to p plates. wonder why they blame the stats. introduce a hoon plate. get caught hooning, get restrictions, get penalties.

lay off the p platers and stop bashing them.

And for rahn, nice work blaming p platers for everything, you gonna blame p platers for your mistresses husband catching you?

I think you missed the point on why I ended up so close to him a couple of times.

    Let me re-quote:

driving along and a driver was going from 80-20km/h up and down in a 60 zone and swerving across the road?
Because I almost slammed up his arse twice from erratic braking, he reported me for tailgating...kind of hard to not end up so close when a drunk toss head is driving along a road like this. Only took 2 times before I realised something was up with him so i turned off.

I didn't see anyone here bashing P platers if that's what you were getting at and I'll think you'll find the government is targeting anyone that is hooning not just p platers. I like the idea of a hoon plate but then that might act as some sort of trophy symbol for these guys.

I couldn't care less about the laws anyway cause as I see it if you aint doing something stupid then you'll be ok and if you get caught doing something stupid then don't cry about it and take your medicine as you know the rules. I don't want to see my tax money being spent to reward idiots that have no respect for anyone else on the road but themselves full stop!
