couple of my mats thought it was me and another one was at the jc cruise and said it was pretty tuff what happened?
apparently there's a news.com.au article but I can't find it,
hopefully the driver gets well soon
Was in the Sunday mail. The VK is a real mess and from the photo hard to work out what happened.
Just said the VK was heading North and the Camry was going South and speed may have been a factor. Somehow the Camry has wiped out the VK's rear end and passengers side to the back door. The Camry only looked like moderate damage on the drivers side front and door.
Very strange indeed.

^^ yeh thats wat i was thinkin.. tuff luck tho all the best to the owner.
Puzzles me too - the way the cars were in the photo - all wrong to the discription in the paper. Nothing about it lines up at all - drivers side of the Camry and passengers side of the VK.
I may just go down and have a look at the palace on my way to work in the morning.

Agreed, it was only just after the intersection, I havent had a chance to talk to him, I figue he has too much going on right now, the txt from him saying he was okay was all I needed at the time.
This is the news article, but it doesnt say much, the pic on my phone & in the paper just dont make sense with the story published......
AdelaideNow... Three injured in road smash
OK went for a drive on my way to work past the accident site. It's a design fault in the road that is in my opinion the problem.
It's a 4 lane road with a T section from McLaren Vale. It's at the bottom of the hill and when leaving McLaren Vale to head into the city (turn right) you have to murge into the right lane with cars comming past on the left of you. (it's illegal to overtake on the left in SA on a dual highway) This has the cars on the left doing 80kph (or more as it used to be 100 a few months ago) while you get your car up to speed. The intersection is very low grip so you must take it easy then get up to 80 as quick as you can.
Now I'd say the VK was in the right hand lane and hit from behind by the Camry at high speed and that both cars were heading North.
If they were both heading South - again the VK was in the right hand side lane and the Camry has nailed it from the left side.
There have been calls for a round about at this intersection for 10 years or more. It is probably really needed as ther is narsty accidents every year with people getting killed. Each year more traffic to the area, mor accidents at this spot.

This particular accident wasn't even at the intersection, it was about 1km away from it heading to adelaide, I know because I was stuck in the traffic just after it happened. People need to take more care, not speed, and definitely NOT tail-gate. So many times I have been going up or down that road, at 100, and have some inconsiderate person sitting right on my bumper, what if I needed to brake suddenly for any reason, it's not hard to see why some accidents occur.

I'll take a guess and say it was the vk's fault with speed involved. Not sure about SA but her ein Vic if you come up to a camry, well, lets say you wont be doing more than 80% of the speed limit![]()

OK went passed the site again and there is no way the cars were going in opposite directions.
The VK was hit from behind while in the right hand lane by the Camry (left lane). The left rear tyre from the VK has left a huge black mark in an ark accross the right lane and gone onto the Southern lane and done a complete 360 comming to rest facing North.
Thats how I see it anyway. Dont see how the VK could have been at fault unless it was going too fast and stopped suddenly giving the Camry no chance to stop. That then puts into question how fast the Camy was going and how did it do so much damage - just look where the left rear wheel ended up.

You'd need a huge speed differential to cause that much damage, if they were going the the same direction the VK would have had to have been practically stationary, and there should be more frontal damage to the Camry.
Is it possible the tail of the VK might not have been on the right side of the road?...
