what about when your coming up to an intersection and the lights change, you can either slam the brakes hard or accelerate more to get through. i can think of one like that here in a 70 zone.very hard to pull up in the distance you got there.

yeah there's one in Geelong. i always see poeple getting done. i guess if you have to speed up to get through it then you'd have enough time to slow down aswell.

Theres actually 7 of them across Geelong so far!

Great idea, if you need to speed up to get through you can slow down. If your not sure, wipe off 5-10k's coming up to it, that way you can speed up 5-10k's going through it if it was to switch. Red light only triggers once you enter the intersection on a red light.

I have been caught by the friendly Canberra one's to, twice in 3 weeks. I had been driving 4wd for years and only had the VX for a week when I first got caught. I was didn't realize that the Red light camera's could do that. I learnt my lesson quick don't hit the gas when the light turns orange.

So I wonder if they'll now have to start signposting red light cameras in the same way as speed cameras? Right now there are a minimum of three large warning signs, a marching band, and a guy in a chicken suit selling coupons before every fixed speed camera. I wonder if those regulations extend to combo red light/speed cameras.

In other news, I believe I read once that this same concept can in theory extend to bus lane cameras.

the one on pennant hills is now active.......its catching heaps of people.....and you guys think you have it bad i drive semis and the one on pennant hills road is at the bottom of a steep hill and its a school zone too....so if you get done doin 70 in school hours fork out....there shouldnt be any reason why you get done buy a red light camera in a car if you cant make a decision to stop or go between amber and red you smokin too much weed, but speed camera as well thats a bit week cause sometimes its safer for me in a semi thats fully loaded to proceed through the red light, especially if its raining or on a down hill like P/H road, other option is lock up brakes and try and keep it straight....and im talking about in the wet not on dry days for those about to hate

Nothing new in Victoria. There's a heap more going up right now and they're all dual fixed (speed/red light) cameras. They're being targetted at high accident intersections.

All intersections with the old wet film cameras (some don't even work anymore) are being upgraded to these new digital dual fixed ones.

Occasionally. Every red light and speed camera box in Canberra has about a 30% (??) chance of actually having a camera in it, at any given point. So that people will run the risk sometimes, and pay the State
